Post by rtorella »

Upgraded to Windows 10 Professional 64bit. Now PopPeeper 4 has glitch when sending mail. Pop's up with message that mail was sent but copy NOT SAVED IN SENT MAIL FOLDER. Still have option to save turned on and always worked with Windows 7 Pro 64bit. Need program update to fix

Welcome to the forum rtorella, just checking on something which is likely not the case because you should have seen an error in the situation mentioned next but just to make sure. So besides in "Tools" > "Options" > "Send Mail" tab option where you have the "Save sent messages to disk" enabled (checked) as you've posted and assuming you've also got the "Save outgoing message to disk" enabled (checked) as well then if so is it correct to assume that the sent emails are not getting stuck in your "Outbox"?

Just to clarify further....

So then you're saying that the PP main menu: "View" > "Mailbox" > "Sent" does not show any new "sent mail" since upgrading to WIN10? But on the other hand, all emails sent before the upgrade are still getting listed in the "Sent Mail Viewer"?

In the main menu: "View" > "Explore" > "Sent folder", you should see all your "email account" folders each with their respective "Sent" folder with the sent emails for each account in this folder. Also the data path you see at the top of this explorer window should be what you would expect by comparison to the "Data path" value in the main menu "Tools" > "Options" > "Storage". Does everything check out OK in this regard?

Btw, what is that "Data Path" value in "Tools" > "Options" > "Storage"?

What "Server Type" are your accounts setup to use: IMAP, POP3 or Webmail (Hotmail, Yahoo, Gmail etc) ?

If you're using "Webmail", then do you see the "sent" emails in the "sent folder" of the Email Client (that is on the web)?

Thanks for the info rtorella, sometime later today (Wed, 7/29) Jeff should be looking into this further.

This question:
> what is that "Data Path" value in "Tools" > "Options" > "Storage"?
is very pertinent as I suspect you may have PP using a UAC-protected folder.

All my accounts show correctly in the sent folder, just will not save a copy as with Windows 7. Only after my upgrade to Win 10 Pro 64bit did the attached msg appear. Attached a jpg screenshot of the option, storage settings.

Thanks,

Ray

Try changing your "Storage" setting in Tools/Options/Storage to something other than "None".

The problem is because of UAC -- you're trying to use a portable data folder in the "Program Files" folder. This was fine in XP, but not in anything since Vista.

You have 2 choices:
1)
- Exit POP Peeper
-Move the folder:
C:\Program Files (x86)\POP Peeper\
to somewhere that isn't protected by UAC, e.g.
C:\POP Peeper\

2) or, Move the ini file and data folder:

- Exit POP Peeper
- Move the ini file from:
C:\Program Files (x86)\POP Peeper\poppeeper.ini
to:
%userprofile%\AppData\Roaming\POP Peeper
- Restart POP Peeper
- Go to Tools / Options / Storage and delete the value for the data path, this will reset it to the AppData folder

It's not necessary to change the storage options to header/entire, but it is recommended. Allowing POP Peeper to save some of the data will mean PP won't have to re-download any messages the next time it starts. Messages are compressed and encrypted in the database.

Thank you very much for all your suggestions for the settings and movement of the ini file. Followed your instructions, worked perfectly! Also did the trick in fixing my deleted mail being saved, which also would not cooperate. Thanks again, Ray
