Re: XP user, prior version user, OAuth2 chokehold - help!

Sorry to delay reporting back as I had to set aside time to set up numerous accounts (and catch up on emails, since they stopped retrieving 27 September 2024). I was not able to resuscitate any hotmail, outlook or live.com accounts on XP. Clicking the OAuth2 just gave "Navigation to the webpage...

Re: XP user, prior version user, OAuth2 chokehold - help!

Okay, I mis-"parsed" it. They're discontinuing Basic authentication for IMAP and POP, not discontinuing IMAP nor POP. It's all very confusing. It came across to me at first as "if you use name/password to login, that will no longer work". That said to me that PP was toast. I'm st...

Re: XP user, prior version user, OAuth2 chokehold - help!

Perhaps this only applies to Exchange Servers. I'm talking over my head; I have zero IQ server understanding. My POP and IMAP concern is from the first sentence. "We removed the ability to use Basic authentication in Exchange Online for Exchange ActiveSync (EAS), POP, IMAP, Remote PowerShell, E...

Re: XP user, prior version user, OAuth2 chokehold - help!

Thank you for the response and suggesting app passwords. Google says "App passwords can only be used with accounts that have 2-Step Verification turned on." Durn, I don't WANT 2 factor even though I.T. people insist that I will die of some virus if I don't. But if I'm being forced ... I re...

Re: XP user, prior version user, OAuth2 chokehold - help!

To clarify - I really want to keep running PP on XP, but I don't think PP 5 works there. XP with 4.5.0 would be awesome (even if Microsoft is fighting to stop me. They know what I want better than I do). - As described earlier, clicking the OAuth2 button on that XP box, with 4.5.0, seems hopeless. -...

XP user, prior version user, OAuth2 chokehold - help!

This message is directed for those who are great enough to help rather than lecture about using XP or old versions. My reason for XP and using POPP 4.5 there are well reasoned, and if you can aid me, thank you, as I would or will do for you sometime. I have great fondness for Pop Peeper and Jeff. If...

Re: 1001 Try again later on hotmail

Thanks for all the cool analysis. It seems Microsoft is just being schizo with its servers. Now, a couple of hours later, every one of them is functioning again. I don't think the 14 times 2 accounts are stressing anything, since some only check twice a day, and most are set at at least 20 minutes. ...

Re: 1001 Try again later on hotmail

(SEE EDIT BELOW) FYI, bizarrely, this morning suddenly each one of the Hotmail/Outlook interface accounts began working for me, following 12 (edit: it was 14) continuous days of nonresponsiveness. (I have run both Imap and hotmail.outlook simultaneously in the event that this might happen, even afte...

Re: 1001 Try again later on hotmail

Thanks very kindly, lakrsrool. Everything appears just like you said. [a]So should someone want to add an account with Hotmail/Outlook, start with Imap, then edit the created account to switch it over, I gather. (Or generally better, dupe an account and edit)[/a] (edit: see later correction by someo...

Re: 1001 Try again later on hotmail

It seems apparent that the Hotmail/Outlook access avenue has been summarily discontinued for me by Microsoft, so it may happen to others now or soon. I conclude this after all 10 of my hotmail/outlook/live accounts completely stopped working simultaneously under that access method, and each have con...

Re: 1001 Try again later on hotmail

Thank you for your kind attention and smart instructions. I finally got Imap to work though Hotmail/OUtlook still is not functioning. You and Jeff have both suggested setting up Imap and trying side by side; but until today I was never able to get it to succeed. First, to get it out of the way: yes,...

1001 Try again later on hotmail

It's been this way for the past 24 hours, and 36 of the past 48. (Suddenly began working after being down 12 hours, worked for 12 hours, then stopped for 24 hours, and still that way.) Some are hotmail.com, some outlook.com, some live.com. Versions look good, reset modem, restarted, rebooted. On XP,...

Re: No problems!

User Error strikes again - the notification was in the junk folder. I get like one false positive per year, and you were this year's "winner" :)

Sorry for not doing the obvious before posting.

FYI I will quickly note that I didn't get an email notifying me of your reply. - It is a "watched topic" so I interpret that I am "subscribed" -- http://www.esumsoft.com/Forums/ucp.php?i=ucp_main&mode=subscribed - Everything's checked in "Edit notification options" ...

No problems!

Just to jazz things up I thought I would sign on not to post a problem or whine, but to post that things are going fantastically! Normally I only peek my head in when there's an issue. But I don't have any now, and very very rarely do, and usually they're just 101 Bad User Error. What a great, usefu...

>> Check any spam filters Forgive me, I almost never have legit. messages marked as spam but hotmail slammed all of your forum messages into junk. Re: 4.4 froze hard during database conversion

Hmm still not getting emails for forum replies (yes, I confirmed the sticky note items). I tested numerous messages in the big account and so far they seem okay. Presumably several accounts were converted, one is possibly "in flux", and the rest of the accounts are unconverted; I assume th...

Re: 4.4 froze hard during database conversion

(Grrr, I'm not getting email notification of replies.) Sorry, let me CORRECT my post. I was giving "CHECK MAIL" time, not load time. Equivalently, I observe that to be the same amount of amount of time when deleting a message. I'm finding that both 4.3 and 4.4 take about 15 seconds per 1,0...

4.4 froze hard during database conversion

Just installed 4.4 and ran it. I adore poppeeper, and it's truly great, but am reporting an issue on just the latest version. I have a hotmail account with over 16,000 that hung on the database conversion step, and it truly looked hopeless. I know you prefer that users just wait it out but I don't b...

Re: Memory or resource leak on latest version?

Way to go tracking that down!! Side note, Acronis backup is totally useless on XP because unlike you their programmers are too stupid to understand what a memory or resource leak is, and with Acronis the GDI count rises explosively until crash, every time. I spent hours and days sending them massive...
