Re: AOL stopped working

POP Peeper does not support OAuth2 for AOL, so you may need to go into your aol account and create an app password -- Log into your aol.com account: Options / Account Info; "Account Security": "generate app password" (or "manage app passwords") I've tested this in POP Peeper and the app password wil...

Re: Gmail spam: could change false positive to Inbox?

Glad to hear it works for you! And thanks for the suggestion to add more screenshots -- I definitely will do that for v5. There's definitely more than 1 screenshot on the site, but if you can't find them, that certainly indicates a problem. Just for reference, there are 2 screenshots on the main POP...

Re: Gmail spam: could change false positive to Inbox?

The method to access the folders is identical -- if you want to view your spam messages (which, presumably you do, so that you can move false-positives into the inbox), then you would still need 2 accounts. What lakrsrool is suggesting is that you don't necessarily have to create another account to ...

Re: Gmail spam: could change false positive to Inbox?

Right -- sorry for not mentioning that. I had it in my head that since you could read the other folders that you could write, too; but I forgot that the Plus Pack also allows you to read the other folders

Re: Gmail spam: could change false positive to Inbox?

You can move the message into your inbox:
When viewing the message --
- menu: Message / Move to
- Add the "move to" button to the toolbar

From the main message list --
- right-click on the message / Move to
- Add the "move to" button to the toolbar

v5 will add drag&drop support to move messages.

Re: Odd Win 10 taskbar behavior

Sorry, I completely read that wrong. I use the same terminology myself (taskbar/tray) and yet I still managed to mis-interpret it... #-o Ok, to answer your question -- POP Peeper through v4 has not had a way to minimize to the *taskbar*. Whenever you minimize POP Peeper, it always goes to the *tray*...

Re: Can I get Pop Peeper to keep my connection alive?

I'm surprised there's not an existing app either. The app lwc mentioned seems to fit the bill, but if it doesn't work... lwc -- it's not that I don't think it's a completely useless feature -- I've even been thinking about how implementing it within PP as opposed to a separate app would be useful, e...

Re: Can I get Pop Peeper to keep my connection alive?

lakrsrool - That setting is related, but doesn't help lwc's request. I believe that if that setting is disabled, then it prevents apps from keeping the computer awake (imagine watching a video and the computer suddenly goes to sleep because you haven't interacted with your computer for a while).

Re: Odd Win 10 taskbar behavior

Just to make sure we're on the same page, here's how the typical interaction with the tray icon works: - If you can alt-tab to it, then the window is already open. ie. if POP Peeper is minimized to the tray, then POP Peeper will *not* appear in the alt-tab list of programs. When you double-click on ...

Re: Password I didn't Set

Glad to hear things are back to normal, and thanks for the details. Typically when PP inserts a password because it detected something wrong, it will popup a warning when PP starts, so the fact that you didn't get that does suggest that something didn't go as expected. That's something I'll keep an ...

Re: Can I get Pop Peeper to keep my connection alive?

Well, POP Peeper is designed to be run all the time and not on demand, which is why I'm reluctant to add this type of feature. You may want to look for a program that prevents sleep from happening if a certain program is running. I took a couple minutes to find one, but couldn't... I'd be surprised ...

Re: Password I didn't Set

Yes, you can manually delete the section in the ini file for that account; I would recommend deleting the data.db file again. And, of course, do both while POP Peeper isn't running. Can you let me know what you did that led up to requiring the password before it froze? ie. did you try to edit the ac...

Re: Password I didn't Set

This part, in particular: "Click on any email and it opens to jibberish ascii characters" sounds like your database may be corrupted. I would recommend deleting the database and then allow POP Peeper to re-contruct your messages from the server: 1) Find where POP Peeper is storing the data under Too...

Yeah, I had read this via RSS initially and hadn't looked at the graphic yet (I forgot to "double-click"), so I had formed my reply in my head before replying... btw, you'll be happy to know that I added in code last night to set the "current" version to orange when the current is later than the lat...

Re: Can I get Pop Peeper to keep my connection alive?

But as for a special use case, I thought the idea of the program is to always know when a mail comes in. A computer will go to sleep if it's been idle; so if the computer has been idle then it's likely that the person is not using the computer, and if they're not at the computer, then any new messa...

Re: Can I get Pop Peeper to keep my connection alive?

Shouldn't a constant PP mode like IMAP (IDLE/Push) prevent the computer from sleeping? No, an active network connection does not prevent Windows from entering standby. There's a special setting in Windows power management that prevents it from sleeping when it detects a media connection (in the pas...

Re: Add an indication of version mismatches

Yeah, that may not be a bad idea. It shouldn't happen too often, but I know SSL has always been a special case because of the way that I've released it. Hoping that "special case" is eliminated/reduced because I believe that there's now a single download source (whereas v4 has like 3 different sourc...

Re: Is v4.5.3 still in testing?

Do you have "Automatically check for updates" enabled and, if not, have you pressed the "check version" button? Latest version should say v4.5.3. But today I randomly saw it on the homepage as an official version - when did this happen? Perhaps Aug 29. That was a long time ago and I don't remember t...

Re: Retrieve deleted messages?

Some mail servers will save deleted POP3 messages and they might put it in another folder, so you may want to look for any folders that may seem like a match. I would say this is probably pretty rare though, but when a message is deleted via POP3, the only way it can be moved to a trash folder is if...
