Re: Hotmail, Live, Outlook mail not working/connecting?

Confirmed... Nothing has changed in POP Peeper, though. This may mean that there were some issues with what they changed (e.g. browser compatibility); which could mean that they'll tweak it and try again soon/later. So, either way all we can do is wait and see, and hope.

Re: Typing Message Tabs Right

You're probably right-justifying the text by pressing Ctrl+R (I know I've done it myself on accident, perhaps I was trying to reply to the reply...)

If that's what it is, you can return the current line to normal by pressing Ctrl+L (Left justify).

Re: Hotmail, Live, Outlook mail not working/connecting?

Sorry jmpnm, but I still haven't had any luck finding the needle in the haystack that makes it work. I'll look at it again tomorrow with fresh eyes, but I'm running out of ideas...

Re: Hotmail, Live, Outlook mail not working/connecting?

WebMail is click and go setup convenient but I can switch to IMAP at any time. Most email servers now configure themselves when you add a new email address, but it mostly relies on Mozilla's database. There are some questionable results that make me think it's not very well maintained anymore; ie. ...

Re: Hotmail, Live, Outlook mail not working/connecting?

Not working here the switch to IMAP, stay saying "Connecting..." and then "Bad connection error" jmpnm -- try editing the account and switching the SSL to "STARTTLS" on the bottom-right-ish. Your work is probably blocking port 993 because it's forced-encrypted (and can't scan for viruses/malware), ...

Re: Hotmail, Live, Outlook mail not working/connecting?

Thanks for the encouraging words :) To clarify: I was only talking about WebMail for Outlook in my above post. That is, whether it's worth continuing to support that particular protocol which very few people still use and the number of people that *need* to use it is even fewer (mostly, it's long-ti...

Re: Hotmail, Live, Outlook mail not working/connecting?

I'm aware of the issue and I've started investigating the issue. Before I delve into that, I'm going to recommend that you switch to IMAP. Imap is the preferred protocol to use and, frankly, the only people who should be using the webmail protocol is people whose imap connection is blocked (this is ...

Re: Is there a way to Search emails with a keyword?

POP Peeper Pro v5.0 will have search capability. It was first announced here: https://www.esumsoft.com/blog/pop-peeper-v5-more-details/ But seeing that post and knowing that the feature set of v5 has been locked for quite some time, I really (really) need to make a summary post so everything can be ...

Re: Secure Mail Key and AT&T/Yahoo

I am definitely not a lawyer, but I just read that TOS and I had a different takeaway on it than you did. The way I interpret it is just for the "use of OAuth" (and OpenID, but that's irrelevant). My interpretation of it is that it doesn't have anything to do with email specifically (that would be i...

Re: Yahoo's OAuth working intermittently?

Ah, ok. This may be obvious, but in case it helps -- it will likely be an https connection as opposed to the standard imap port 143/993; specifically: https://api.login.yahoo.com/

Re: Secure Mail Key and AT&T/Yahoo

The purpose of using a "secure mail key" is so that if your email password is compromised, then the only thing that can be accessed with your password is your email, as opposed to accessing your main account, which could have much more compromising/sensitive information (e.g. access to bank/credit c...

Press Ctrl+D on the main window to access the logger. I'd be interested in your log, too, which I'd prefer to discuss via email, as it's easier for me to keep track of the conversation.

Re: Security concerns

No, I mean "exceptions" in the term of "special cases"; ie. cases that need to be specifically handled differently simply because of the way POP Peeper is started (or other unknown scenarios). You can say, "don't require the same password for encryption and opening POP Peeper the first time." But th...

Re: Yahoo's OAuth working intermittently?

In general, I would say that Yahoo requires re-authentication more than Outlook or Gmail, but it's nowhere near the extent that you're describing; maybe a few times a year (but I'm probably not the best judge of that since I will often reset oauth just to test something). It's possible that somethin...

Re: Security concerns

The admin password has been around for a very long time, and I don't think that everyone that uses an admin password would necessarily want to encrypt the ini file. I would call the ini encryption still experimental at this stage, but there are plans to make it easier to use in the future (and the "...

Re: Security concerns

Yahoo supported oob back when I originally implemented, but it doesn't behave the same. I had tested it again yesterday and it still behaves differently. Specifically, it doesn't put the code in the title of the page, which is where POP Peeper expects to find it. Encryption: Yeah, I missed the INI o...

Re: Security concerns

Welcome to the forums Reggorf. Regarding Oauth -- I've looked at the code this morning to follow what you're describing. It looks like you're probably following a Yahoo Oauth Consent flow -- it's the only one that uses esumsoft.com in the redirect_uri. Both Google and Outlook provide a uri for nativ...

Re: 64bit Mac Catalina problematic for Crossover

You said that you had switched from Windows to Mac, so it's possible that you may still be able to use your Windows license (it may depend on what type of license you had, ie. OEM or retail). And if it qualifies, you may even still be able to update that license to Win10 for free (so I hear). But he...
