Re: POP Peeper locking up
I had a feeling that this wasn't the only time I was getting lockups so it's good to know you found more and that hopefully you can fix them. I just never had time to do the research - It's often easier to crash it and start again, although the startup times are getting longer and longer due to the ...

Re: POP Peeper locking up
Thanks Jeff, and for quickly being able to reduce the problem. I have to be honest, this has been happening for months or maybe even years, but also fairly infrequently, but it's only recently that it became irritating enough to look further into. I think I notice it most after I have marked large n...

POP Peeper locking up
I'm a long term and experience used of POP Peeper monitoring over 20 mailboxes containing in excess of 100,000 mails. I'm getting regular (2-3 times a week) lock-ups of the software (fails to respond, has to be forcibly crashed and re-started) and after weeks of trying to find a common denominator t...

Re: Problem deleting Hotmail messages
I was pretty sure that Hotmail changed something. I think the similar problem some years back related to issues with the Webmail module which I subsequently moved away from. Moving to IMAP has solved the problem for me, but I'm always curious to know why something that worked previously no longer wo...

Re: Problem deleting Hotmail messages
Thank you for that. I was thinking of moving to the IMAP server to see if it made any difference. I've been using POP3 for many years and it's worked fine, so I wondered what might have changed. I'll wait a day or so to see if anyone else responds, then I'll change to IMAP to see if it works. I need...

Problem deleting Hotmail messages
Hi, Short version over the last week or so POP Peeper does not seem to be able to delete Hotmail messages accessed via POP3. I'm using PP 5.0.1 (but it was the same with 5.0.0). Long version PP accesses my Hotmail (know known as outlook.com) account every 5 minutes. I mark messages that I wish to de...

Re: POP Peeper V5
Unfortunately, I really can't add much more to the conversation. All I can say is that I really do hope that the public beta is available soon [-o< It's getting there but it's obviously taking a lot longer than I would have hoped. Sounds hopeful. Thanks! (Patience is a virtue, but fortune favours t...

POP Peeper V5
My humble apologies if I am the n'th person to ask this, but the forum search function won't let me search for "V5" and I don't seem to be able to sort topics in chronological order to see if it's a recent discussion, but (the release of V4.5.3 reminded me :P ).... Any news on V5? It seems...

Re: Suggestion: double clicking on the account list
I have 3 columns in my accounts window - "Account", "Unread" and "New" (in that order, left to right). My window however is larger (wider) than the 3 columns, so I have whitespace to the right of the "New" column. Double clicking there brings up all accounts, ...

Suggestion: double clicking on the account list
When I click on a single account in the account list the messages window updates to display the messages in that account. So far, so good (and I realise this is an option that I have chosen when double clicking). When I double click in blank space in the account list window (so not on a specific acc...

POP Peeper 4.3?
PP is telling me there is a new 4.3.0.2003 version available, but when I click on "Download" to go to the website, there is no new version there

Re: POP Peeper with Windows 10 Anniversary edition
I've renamed all the ".db" files in the data tree to ".db_old" POP Peeper starts. I've been able to regenerate all the data in all accounts by running PP and letting it download the mail content again. I've stopped and re-started PP again and it still works. This was clearly a pr...

Re: POP Peeper with Windows 10 Anniversary edition
Which files do I need to delete? I'd like to avoid having to setup all the accounts again, if possible, but I don't mind losing the messages and rebuilding the databases from scratch. It's curious that the Windows update broke it - it worked fine before, and only early last week did I have purge of ...

Re: POP Peeper with Windows 10 Anniversary edition
I'm answering this while mobile, so excuse the brevity, but I wanted to get a response in during your daytime. The crash happens during startup before I get to the PP UI, so I can't get to any settings. It happens every time. I have a BIG database, probably around a Gigabyte, which takes time to loa...

POP Peeper with Windows 10 Anniversary edition
I just upgraded to the new Windows 10 Anniversary edition and it broke my POP Peeper :( 2016-08-03_174431.jpg I hope this is a simple problem to fix, as POP Peeper (Pro, V4.2) is a key weapon in my arsenal! I tried a new install and it's not helped. Any assistance would be much appreciated! Edwin

Re: Spaces at the beginning of account names
Thanks.... seem it's something I will have to live with, or more accurately work around the workaround Note to self : read more release notes Additional note to self: Ignore notes to self. :P It might be helpful when entering an "illegal" initial space to get a warning.... Those spaces wer...

Spaces at the beginning of account names
It seems that the new POP Peeper (I'm using v4.1 Beta 3) does not allow the space character at the beginning of an account name. I use spaces to adjust the sort order of the account name list (adding a space brings an account to the top) - all accounts created previously are fine, and as before, but...

Re: HTML rendering in POP Peeper
I think the key factor here was the inconsistency - different crashes happening at different times in different places in the code. The only common denominator was viewing in HTML which clearly places particular pressure on the process.

Re: HTML rendering in POP Peeper
Reducing the database size seems to have fixed the problem - I've not had a crash since - thanks to those that assisted!
Pending a more permanent fix in the longer term, might I suggest a warning message if the database starts to get of a size where memory problems are likely to arise?
Edwin
