Re: Archived mail and "Date Modified" issue

Interesting, thanks. I'll go back to looking closer at Windows because, as I said, this doesn't seem to happen when I was using Windows 7 so it must be something there that I just can't duplicate elsewhere.
Thank you for answering. Very much appreciated.

Re: Archived mail and "Date Modified" issue

I'm not sure I understand your question. I have my own domain so I guess I am the email service provider. I use POP email. What I am talking about is when I am viewing an email, and I save it by clicking archive, it saves it to my PC hard drive. I then take those emails and save them to a folder cal...

Archived mail and "Date Modified" issue

So I switched from Windows 7 to Windows 10 at the same time that I switched from PP 4 to PP 5 so I don't know if this is a PP issue or a Windows issue but after some research I am fairly certain it is a PP issue. If I archive an email and save it in a folder on my PC it has a "Date Modified&quo...

Re: How to go back to free version?

I found the problem. I keep my data in 2 separate locations.
My ini is in:
C:\Users\ACCT\AppData\Roaming\POP Peeper\poppeeper.ini

But I keep my folders in:
C:\Stuff\MAIL

So i went there and I deleted all those files too. Started up and bingo, no more problems.

Re: How to go back to free version?

Definitely. I did. I even deleted the ini, ran a cleaner program, rebooted replaced a fresh ini from another PC set up exactly the same except it is the free version (never had the pay version on it) and still it popped up that window. I compared the two ini files from the two different PCs. One run...

Re: How to go back to free version?

I appreciate your help tremendously. Thank you. But it is still doing it. I tried everything you detailed above but yet it keeps coming back. As a matter of fact I edit the ini file and then open and close PP and when I go back the same thing happens. When I view the ini file again it is back to the...

How to go back to free version?

So I had the paid version and now I am trying to go back to the free version. I uninstalled the program and did a clean install, but I backed up my ini file so I would keep all my contacts and not have to do that all over again. But now every time I open the program it asks to "activate". ...

Re: Can't store mail where I want in Win10?

Great. I mean not great that it wasn't working but great that I am not crazy and this is actually a thing. So I guess this problem has not come to the front because most people leave the locations as default. So me being an oddball brought the problem out. But as long as it's being addressed and eve...

Thanks. I appreciate that.
As long as that fixes it I feel fine waiting for a more permanent answer.
Very much appreciated.

Re: Can't store mail where I want in Win10?

OK, I *think* I might have figured out a solution although I still do not know why this is happening. So since I am not fixing it I guess it is more of a workaround than a fix. I examined the differences between my poppeeper.ini files from Win7 (that works correctly) and the Win10 (that had the erro...

Re: Can't store mail where I want in Win10?

Unless I am misunderstanding you what you are saying is that I cannot change the location of the data files? It seems as though you are telling me to leave the data path set as C:\Users\Profile\AppData\Roaming\POP Peeper. If that's what you're saying then yes, when I leave it like that the program w...

Re: Can't store mail where I want in Win10?

OK, that doesn't work. This is very odd because I have exactly the same set up on a Win7 machine and it works fine. Bu this is what is happening. 1. I open the program and it thinks this is a new install so it takes me through the basic setup. 2. I set it up a little bit but don't close it. I look i...

Can't store mail where I want in Win10?

Been using PP for a very long time on previous version of Windows. I used to save the .ini file and the mail accounts folders in the same folder as the program. Then I think starting with Win7 you were better off if you saved the ini file in the "user" folder in AppData\Roaming, but I stil...

Re: Moving activation to new device?

Ah, OK. I saw the activate button so I was looking for a "deactivate" button somewhere and I could not find it. So when I activate it on the new PC it will see that I have already have it active on the older PC and then ask me if I want to deactivate that older PC at that time. Got it. Tha...

Moving activation to new device?

I'm guessing this has probably been asked before but I could not find it, so please forgive me. - So it appears as though we are only allowed to have a paid version on maximum 2 PC's per license at a time, correct? Let's say I have the following: PC1 and PC2 have the paid version activated and PC3 h...

PPv5 has enabled case-sensitivity by default (double-checking... confirmed), so I think a lot of the issues you mentioned originally should be addressed.
Awesome. Thank you.

Re: Spellcheck not catching word

Here's an idea. I don't know if this sounds stupid or not but I figured hey, why not throw it out there. Is it possible to have 2 different english dictionaries and allow the user to pick one? Right now a lot of programs you can choose between english UK or english US. So maybe you could have a choi...

Just in case anyone else was interested ... I did find out that the problem is with my hosting company and not PP.
