Re: Corrupted settings file notification
The file we're after is the file immediately above the poppeeper.ini.bak file. ie. its name is "poppeeper" and the type is "Configuration settings" However, based on the fact that both file sizes are 6K, it's possible that the backup file doesn't have any accounts in it either. I...

Re: Unable to open attachments on subsequent attempts
Yes, that's probably the problem. It's been a while since I've used anything like CCleaner, but if you're able to relax its aggressiveness, that would be better -- for example, so that it only deletes files that are at *least* 24-48 hours old. It really doesn't make sense to delete files immediately...

Re: Unable to open attachments on subsequent attempts
When you "open" an attachment, PP saves the file to your Windows Temp folder so that it can be opened. If that temp file is deleted or modified and you try to open the file from PP again, PP will save the temp file again. However, doing a little testing, if I delete the custom subfolder, a...

Re: Corrupted settings file notification
hm, ok, your ini file is in the acceptable "appdata" folder, so the file is not write-protected due to UAC as I was expecting. However, it's possible that the file is still write-protected. What you'll need to do is open Windows Explorer to the folder containing the ini file: C:\Users\rher...

Re: hotmail Error: Try again later. (-11)
Since you're able to access other accounts without problems, and based on the "POP3 server failed to process your request" response, it sounds like something may be wrong with your account that's preventing POP3/IMAP access. You will probably need to contact Hotmail support regarding that....

Re: Corrupted settings file notification
What I suspect the problem is that the "corrupted" ini file is in your "Program Files" folder, which is not writable and that's why it occurs every time you start POP Peeper. To verify this theory: - From PP's main menu, select Tools / Options - Select the "Storage" pag...

Re: Zoho login problem
IMAP is, by far, the superior protocol over POP3. There may be special cases to use POP3 (particularly for permanent storage), but as far as email notification, IMAP is the way to go. And you may want to consider enabling IDLE in the account(s); this allows POP Peeper to remain connected to the serv...

Re: Removing PP Pro upgrade without buying it?
This may not have been apparent, but my first sentence was a direct reply to your previous question: "if i wanted to remove the wording on the toolbar menu at the top, how would i do it?" reply: "You need to purchase POP Peeper Pro" (ie. that is the only way to remove the wording...

Re: Removing PP Pro upgrade without buying it?
You need to purchase POP Peeper Pro. Also, since you've mentioned it a couple of times, a POP Peeper Pro license is required to use POP Peeper for commercial/business purposes. POP Peeper (free) is only licensed for personal use -- this has always been the case (long before 'Pro' was conceived) and ...

Re: Zoho login problem
There shouldn't be any problem with using POP3, but you may want to try using IMAP as lakrsrool suggested. I tried testing various scenarios (POP3 disabled, invalid login name, wrong password) and I could not duplicate the error you got, so I'm not sure what the problem is. If you still have the pro...

Re: Being locked out of my email every few hours
Colin, You can try using IMAP and make sure that IDLE is enabled. Assuming that your email host supports both (imap and idle), this would reduce the number of logins as POP Peeper will be able to stay connected to the server and not have to login every 15 minutes. Change the accounts to use IMAP/IDL...

Re: Return Receipts
No, POP Peeper does not return receipts. IF -- and that's a really big IF -- PP ever did handle return receipts, it would default to "ask." However, I have no plans to support them.

This occurs in v4.0 immediately after you activate Pro; it will be removed when you exit/restart POP Peeper. And, fwiw, this is fixed in v4.1.

Re: Spaces at the beginning of account names
Not that I expect you to have seen this, but this is listed in the version history for v4.1. The reason for this change is because it was discovered that it was causing some side-effects, notably, if you tried to send an email that had been previously saved in the outbox, you may get a "send ma...

Re: POP crashes on server mesage deletion
That's exactly what I was going to suggest, so I'm glad you found it on your own and it worked. There have been several reports of this delete issue, and even though I suspected that v4.1 would fix it, I never had confirmation since most people ended up deleting the messages in smaller batches or fr...
