v4 Public Beta
The first public beta of POP Peeper v4 is now available. This version is for the "free" version of POP Peeper v4, which means it won't have the following features: AntiJunk, Spell Checker and Web of Trust. Some of the new features that are in the Free version are: save draft, modeless comp...

Re: NEW SET OF ICONS PROPOSAL
Assuming this is for the "user-customizable plugin," then my first thought is that it's not consistent with the icon that POP Peeper uses for new email, which is the light blue flag. Of course, the point of the plugin would be to have multiple versions of icons for the user to choose from,...

Re: NEW SET OF ICONS PROPOSAL
The plugin isn't a sure thing yet. I was hoping to get more feedback from the people that have already showed interest and see if other people would be interested. PP v4.0 still has precedence. As for providing icons: I'm not a graphic artist, so if people wanted to donate their talents that would c...

Re: NEW SET OF ICONS PROPOSAL
Since the icons would be supplied by the user, they could have it blinking/animated if they wanted, or inanimate if they preferred.

Re: NEW SET OF ICONS PROPOSAL
Milou -- Matthew was just rewording what I already said, but like he said, there's always room for improvement and your suggestions *have* been constructive and welcome. What do you think of the Notification Plugin idea?

Re: NEW SET OF ICONS PROPOSAL
So I suggest that the envelope be independent of the mailbox icon Now this may be an interesting idea. This could be done via a Notification plugin and I would certainly be more agreeable to allow user-customized icons. The plugin method would use a separate icon, so the original icon would still d...

Re: NEW SET OF ICONS PROPOSAL
Thanks for the ideas. I plan on keeping the design of the current icons because they are distinct, but that doesn't mean that they can't be tweaked. Here are some of the ideas that I got from the icons you guys posted: 1) Should the error icon be red instead of yellow? Yellow is already used for &qu...

Re: Chinese (Simplified) translation
Thanks for the offer, Matthew. PPLC for v4 isn't ready yet -- I like to wait until I'm sure that no more text will be added. Also, I haven't decided if certain features, like the AntiSpam settings, will be included; but right now I would say "doubtful" (for various reasons).

hm, looks like the Fx developers have the same problem as every other developer -- make a decision and there will surely be a user who wants different behavior

Re: Open Links in Firefox Private Window
POP Peeper simply tells your browser to open the link, how your browser opens the link is up to your browser. I thought that Firefox had this option, but I'm not able to find it... For what it's worth, IE does have the option: Tools / Options "General" tab "Tabs" button "Ope...

Yahoo issues (webmail v3.8.0.22)
A couple of Yahoo-related updates have been made in the last 36 hours. These will fix the "0 messages" bug and the "empty message body" that would occur on some accounts when trying to display messages. These bugs were not directly related and did not affect all accounts the same...

Re: Can a POP3 request affect a mail server?
You're absolutely right -- POP3 is simply not capable of doing any message manipulation except deleting. Fetch messages and delete -- that's about all POP3 is good for. POP Peeper's "Yahoo" server type wouldn't do this, either. Surely (!) Yahoo's tech support would have mentioned this -- b...

Re: POP Peeper is compatible with Windows 8?
POP Peeper can only look for the ini file in 1 of 2 pre-defined locations: 1) The same folder as POPPeeper.exe 2) The AppData folder If you place the ini file anywhere else, you have to tell PP where to find it via the command-line; e.g. "C:\Program Files (x86)\POP Peeper\POPPeeper.exe" -i...

Re: POP Peeper is compatible with Windows 8?
After it's created, PP doesn't allow you to change the ini location internally -- you have to manually move it. I have an educated guess as to the problems you had with upgrading: Since you didn't come from Win7, I assume you upgraded from WinXP. And I'm betting that you had installed PP with a &quo...

Re: Move PP to new PC
I'm guessing that you're upgrading from WinXP (or previous), is that correct? And is your data being stored under C:\Program Files\? As of Windows Vista, folders under C:\Program Files\ are protected by what's known as UAC. This can be kind of a pain to revert because Windows stores files in the &qu...

Re: Access to Remote Folders (Spam, Trash, custom) { setup
I changed my Yahoo account to use Spanish, where "Papelera" is the equivalent of "Trash" (in the Yahoo interface). Papelera doesn't work, but using "Trash" (no quotes) does work.

Re: More Involved Management of "Read" Status for IMAP
Relentence -- I completely agree. Better Imap support will be a primary focus after the v4.0 release. Prehistoricman -- Your request doesn't really have anything to do with the OP, but I'll respond here regardless. In fact, POP3 does not have that capability and it would be impossible to get that i...

Re: POP Peeper is compatible with Windows 8?
Thanks for the confirmation. Some other people have also reported success. I ran it successfully myself with the Consumer Preview, but Win7 is still my primary OS so I can't say I've put it through the wringer on Win8. There is a feature in Win8 that piqued my interest though -- the ability to updat...
