Re: problems again with pop peeper - gmail access

it is not wise to opt for the less secure approach which lowers the security bar for ALL apps accessing that account Is this something that GMail says? Or do you simply mean that in the sense that any app that access the account uses your main password? Just because you've enabled SSL/TLS, doesn't ...

Re: Gmail: Please log in via your web browser

It sounds like everytime your IP address changes, you have to login with your webbrowser, even when using IMAP with SSL/TLS ("less secure") enabled on the GMail account. I have a couple of GMail accounts myself that use the "less secure" setting and I've never had this problem; b...

Re: problems again with pop peeper - gmail access

I didn't take any offense at all. My one concern with your post was, "Allowing Less secure apps is not a wise solution" for which I partially disagree because it's the same level of security that every other email service provides that uses SSL/TLS. Both Hotmail and Yahoo have 2-step verif...

Re: Gmail: Please log in via your web browser

hm, this was also mentioned here:
http://www.esumsoft.com/Forums/viewtopi ... 466#p31938

Had you previously allowed the "less secure apps" setting? In any event, if you read the link above, and my immediate reply, it should get you going again.

And Hotmail has since updated the status: Everything is up and running. Final Status: Engineers monitored the service after taking action to mitigate impact, and have confirmed that the service is healthy. User Impact: Affected users may have been unable to sign in to the service. Incident Start Tim...

Re: problems again with pop peeper - gmail access

It should be noted that allowing "less secure apps" is the same security settings as virtually every other email service -- that is, it allows SSL/TLS access to the account. Two-step verification is probably the better choice, in general; however, it should be noted that there are several ...

Re: Return to old Poppeeper..PLEASE

Here's the thing about software development: if it's not changing then it's abandoned. You can't really have it both ways. And while there are those users who have used PP forever and don't like the change, there are also new users who haven't become so acclimated to the way things were and don't ha...

Re: Can't access hotmail

Glad things are back to normal. According to Hotmail's status page : We're having issues, but we're working on it. Current Status: The investigation determined that a network routing device was degraded. Engineers shifted traffic to alternate capacity to mitigate impact while the primary capacity wa...

Re: Can't open Sent Mail Viewer

Here are some possibilities: 1) Check under Help / About and look through the list to make sure that "Sent Mail Viewer" is listed. If it's listed, does it report that your "current" version is v4.0.0.0? 2) If SMV is installed and it says "n/a" for your current version, ...

Re: problems again with pop peeper - gmail access

There are a couple of other likely scenario, after IMAP is enabled: 1) You have to allow "less secure apps" setting: https://www.google.com/settings/security/lesssecureapps 2) If you're using 2-step verification, you have to create a unique password for IMAP access: https://support.google....

Re: Messages not deleted from PopPeeper

I'm assuming that after you download messages using Thunderbird, that messages are still visible in your inbox as displayed by both POP Peeper and a webbrowser. This would indicate that TB is not deleting the messages as you would like/need it to. What method is *Thunderbird* using to access the acc...

It's interesting that Runbox said: "Among the messages that arrived following the attack, was a message apparently from the attackers. They described their message as an apology, and said that attacking Runbox was a mistake and that we should not pay them. They were keen to point out that they ...

Forum changes

In order to make things easier for users and moderators alike, the forums have been simplified -- there is now one general POP Peeper forum to post in (well... there's still the Translators forum which serves a special purpose). All the messages from the other forums have been moved into the general...

Also, since you originally posted in the "suggestions" forum, it would be beneficial if you told us what you found so egregious so that it could be tweaked.

However, the box "Smart HTML viewing" will not let me check it off. What is the "it" that you refer to? If you're referring to the "smart html" option itself, if it's disabled, then that means you don't have Pro and it won't apply. In that case, you just need to disabl...

Re: "Expunge failed" error message received

The "expunge" command sent to the IMAP server tells the server to delete any messages that have been marked for delete (fyi: this is not the same as marking messages in PP for delete). I'm not exactly sure why an expunge would fail, but I did find one case where the problem seemed to be th...

Re: Issues with Hotmail/Outlook.com (-31 error)

The timezone issue should be fixed now, WebMail v4.0.23. Same procedure as before to update the webmail plugin. However, existing messages won't update their information after you update the plugin. You'll have to use the trick to remove messages and force PP to download them again: http://www.esums...
