One thing that comes to mind is not with viewing html but whether your normal user has access to write in the 'temp' folder. That's where PP will save the temporary html file that's used to display; since it's blank when you try to open it, it seems likely that the temp file isn't being saved. Anot...

Also, after you switch from html to rich, have you tried then switching *back* to html (all while viewing the same message)?
