Post by Jeff »

A Release Candidate is available for POP Peeper v3.8. This is for testing purposes; while there are no expected problems, please do not download this if you don't like using "test" software. If you do install it, please be sure to mention the version you're using when emailing tech support or post on the forums. Please report any issues ASAP.

The list of changes for v3.8 is available here: What's New

Some of the changes require some explanation, especially since you can't use some of them yet: Blog

Download link above has been updated for RC4.

RC3 had a problem with the <enter> key not correctly opening the message in most cases.

Download link above has been updated for RC5.

The most significant changes in RC5 (from RC4):
- New capability to access remote folders for certain protocols (Imap, some webmail-based protocols); requires Premium Add-on Pack *
- Significant improvements in utf-8 support
- Context-menu key (and Shift+F10) now works for Account and Message lists
- Installer: new logic if POP Peeper is running to provide choices to user
- POP Peeper Premium Add-on Pack now requires a license key and online activation
--> for the most part, this should be straightforward, just make sure you click on the "already purchased" link when it pops up; you can then access the page again (after you get your licensekey emailed to you) under Tools / Activation

If you have any issues with the licensekey activation, let me know ASAP! Or anything else for that matter...

* Accessing remote folders: this will require Add-on Pack v3, which will be available for beta testing to licensed users soon.

The Download link above has been updated for RC6.

The changes from RC5 are related to Activation. Certain issues required changes to the online communication interface and RC5 will no longer work for Activation.

If you have already activated with RC5, it is not critical that you update to RC6 unless you want to be a good tester :D

Re: POP Peeper v3.8 RC8

Post by Jeff »

The Download link above has been updated for RC8.

What happened to RC7? It was becoming increasingly obvious that 7 was an unlucky number. After the nth unreleased build, I decided to skip 7 and go directly to 8. Unlucky streak broken :D

RC8 has some general changes and fixes from RC6, it also has more changes necessary to better support the Add-on Pack v3.
One change worth highlighting here is that beta/RC versions of POP Peeper will notify you when there is a new beta version available.

And in related news, in v3.7, one of the changes was supposed to be:
- Additional version information presented in webpage when using "download" button
Well, the change was added into PP, but there was a correlating change necessary on the website which wasn't made live. This has been corrected. If you press the download button from Help / About in PP, you'll get version information on all your plugins with links to update them (if applicable).

v3.8 RC 11 is now available.

Here are the changes since RC8:
- Fix for Message of the Day considering itself unread on each restart
- Fix for Imap folders
- Change in logic for activation should allow better flexibility to fix issues with some devices forcing an activation on each start (pending confirmation)
- Buttons added to Activation window (2 buttons for existing text-links which people may not have realized were clickable; and a help button)

v3.8 RC 14 is now available (link in top post).

Changes since RC12:
- "Server Info" right-click option for Imap accounts (Account list)
- Right-click option to view message as plain/rich/html (Message list)
- Right-click option to archive an entire account (Account list)
- Fix when rename account and account has outgoing messages
- General fixes

Regarding "Server Info" for Imap accounts. This is particularly useful to access folder names on the account. However, for this information to be available, the account must first login with a folder specified (the folder does not have to be valid).
