I am having difficulty in finding this setting.
On version 4 I was able to set the global check to zero (meaning that PopPeeper didn't check for e-mail)
and I had each individual e-mail account set to a variety of times.
Example would be my work e-mail would check every 10 minutes.
My personal ISP e-mails every 60 minutes
and the rest (mostly junk e-mail accounts set to check twice a day)

I seem to recall the setting was under each individual account settings page, but I do not see it there.

It sounds like you do not have the "Advanced" options enabled.

From the main PP menu - go to "Tools" > "Options" > "General" and check the "Advanced options" box toward the upper-right side of the window to enable these functions. You should then have the individual account settings that you are asking about.
