This message is for anyone following this issue as I've already emailed rtorella the solution and the wrap-up --

The reason that rtorella had this problem is because there was a "NotifySkin.dll" file in the base folder, e.g.
C:\Program Files (x86)\POP Peeper\NotifySkin.dll
The proper location for this file is
C:\Program Files (x86)\POP Peeper\Plugins\NotifySkin.dll
(the file was also there, but that redundancy is irrelevant to the issue)

This issue has been fixed internally, but not released as of this writing. As it seems to be an unusual case and I don't know how many people it impacts, I don't know when the fix will be released. (edit: this has affected more people, an update will be forthcoming)

Typical side-effects of this issue are that you *may* see the main window, but it won't show any text and clicking on it will simply "ding" at you.

Note: if you're not sure how to proceed, you may take a screenshot of the folder whee POP Peeper is installed, e.g.
C:\Program Files (x86)\POP Peeper\
Make sure that all files and folders are visible in the screenshot and we'll evaluate the likelihood that you're affected by this issue or not.

The following files in the base folder of POP Peeper are suspect:
- NotifyXXX.dll (e.g. NotifySkin.dll, NotifyVoice.dll, NotifyScreenSaver.dll)
- Chime.dll
- Snarl.dll
--> Delete these files if they are in C:\Program Files (x86)\POP Peeper\

Files that are required/expected (DO NOT DELETE)
- imap.dll
- libeay32.dll
- PPtweaker.dll
- Rss.dll
- SendMail.dll
- sqllite3.dll
- ssleay32.dll
- WebMail.dll
- zip.dll
Again: do NOT delete files from this list

If you have questions about any other files, ask for assistance.

If you think that this issue affects you, let me know so that I have a better idea how many people this affects or if this was just a completely random occurrence.

I want to thank Jeff for coming up with a quick solution to my problem with version 4.4. Fantastic that it was, in my case, 1 file stopping the show.
