No matter what I do, Pop peeper is not recognising my username or password.

Any help would be gratefully received.

If you are certain you have the correct password for the account entered in POP Peeper (are you able to log-in on the web using the Internet?) then you could edit the account in POP Peeper and try pressing the OAuth2 button toward the right-side of the account edit window and follow the instructions to authorize POP Peeper and see if this solves your issue. This is recommended anyway as well as enabling PUSH/Idle when using IMAP for Gmail accounts.
