red x instead of images in HTML mode

I am seeing a red x instead of images in emails. I am in HTML mode and it happens in most but not all emails that contain images. I am guessing that it is an issue with how the images are linked in the email.

Is POP Peeper blocking the images? If you're using a recent version, there should be a yellow banner at the top of the window that may say "double-click here..."

What type of account are you using (edit the account and refer to the "server type")? There are certain webmail services that may block the images. If the server type is "imap" or "pop3" then that shouldn't be an issue.

Can you send a sample message for review? View the message in POP Peeper and select File / Save message as... -- do not attach the message to your public forum post. Attach it via email (preferred; email to [support at esumsoft dot com] and make sure you include a description in your message) or via forum Private Message.
