Please document the command line options

Post by lwc »

It seems there's no central place with all of the command line options PP supports. Neither the manual nor the FAQ has this and I also found no relevant forum thread.

Here's what I managed to find:
  1. -ini - to select an alternative INI file (not specifying the {file} will open the Ini Manager so you can select the file)
  2. -NoCachedTimeStampOnLoad - covered in the FAQ
  3. -backup "filename": where filename is the full path of the backup file
  4. -noprog: do not backup the Program folder
  5. -IniEncrypt: specifies that the ini file will be encrypted
  6. -IniDecrypt: specifies that the ini file will be decrypted
  7. -IniKey [key]: specifies the key to be used for encryption/decryption (optional: you will be prompted if not provided)
Will you consider adding this a one entry in the manual and/or FAQ?

^ lwc - Did you try "Help"? (that is "Help" > "Contents" from the main PP menu)

I am able to find information on virtually all of what you have listed above in great detail by doing a "Search" in Help (note: "noprog" is included in "Backup/Restore Utility" Help). The one possible exception is the #2 you listed (which was covered in FAQ as you point out ).

The Help (except #2) is how I managed to collect all these.
My point is that they're scattered in multiple places.
I suggest to have an official entry that collects them.

Added to my todo. And thanks for compiling that list, some of those commands look completely foreign to me :o Although I suspect some of them may be specific to the backup utility?
