search box width

Post by gordon »

In the Message Window there is a "delete message" and "open message" button.
I can hide whose icons using: PpTweaker/Interface/
uncheck Display View Mail and Delete Mail buttons for message list

There is another button for Bayesian, that I wish I could hide.
This is important, as this Bayesian button unnecessarily uses valuable pixels that
could be used by the search box.

When the search box has less than about 2 inches width, it will unnecessarily hide itself.
You can cause the search box to display/hide by sliding the PP window width.
When I installed V5, I could find others talking about the search box
but I could not find it after searching all buttons/menus ...
Out of desperation, I accidentally changed the width of PP and
the search box popped into view. This all could have been avoided if the
minimum size of the search box was something like 1 inch, or smaller.
You might say it is unusable at that width, maybe so.
But it would serve the purpose of letting you know there is a search box :)
Thanks

This is probably the topic you could not find; Search Box (in the "POP Peeper: v5 Beta" board) -- where Jeff posted the reasoning by which he decided to increase the size of the Search Box.

We appreciate your feedback gordon - Other members of the Esumsoft Team will probably be getting back to you regarding your comments.

Thanks for the reply.

Yes, I had read that short discussion regarding width of search box.
Unfortunately it was locked. :-(

More importantly, they did not explain that the icon disappears when it is less than 2 inches wide. :-(

**- Just for everyone's general info, the POP Peeper - v5 Beta sub-forum containing the above-referenced topic has been closed since beta-testing was concluded, and POP Peeper v5 has now been officially released.

Jeff and the rest of The Esumsoft Team would like to thank everyone for their comments & suggestions during the beta-testing phase. =D>

Cheers! :D

The Message list part of the window needs to be pretty narrow for the Search box control to be removed. I'll take a look at it, though.

btw, you can still press Ctrl+K and type a search even if the search window is hidden due to size constraints. That's not directly related to anything you mentioned, but your comments made me wonder what would happen.

That's pretty modified. However, I did make a change -- the search box will shrink (minimum width: 35px, which is about the length of the displayed text "search") so it would be visible in that screenshot.
