Yahoo OAuth2 in PP

Post by Popey »

I have several old yahoo account, and I tried to set them as recommended in this post But there's no "OAuth2" button.

I tried to get a new portable pop peeper from the site, and set the accounts as new.
There was no option for that OAuth2 part.
I know how it should work from creating an account in Thunderbird, but I am using pop peeper and I want to keep using it after the 20th.

I also tried to install the installation version, but that also didn't help.

Can you help?
OS: Windows 10
Also tried in Windows 7

Take a look at this topic: Yahoo mail changes. If you scroll down through the topic you will find detailed steps (including screen-shot examples) to follow, specifically starting HERE, for both the "Basic" and the "New" versions of Yahoo.

lakrsrool is providing instructions for creating an app-password, which is an alternative but not the same thing as Oauth2 and may or may not always be the best solution.

There are 2 requirements for the Oauth2 button to appear for Yahoo accounts:
1) You must be using IMAP (not POP3 or WebMail)
2) The server must be: imap.mail.yahoo.com

If both of those are true, then you should see the "Oauth2" button.

Thanks Jeff.
The point/ problem was indeed the IMAP part.
I prefer/ use pop all the time, so I didn't have it.

Thank you both.
