Since this upgrade the app is crashing always about 5 minutes after start.
See error message attached.

This issue should be fixed in v5.0.3; however, it also means that you have an underlying issue that your "data" folder is not writable. If you go to:
- main menu: Tools / Options
- Select the "Storage" page
Presumably, your "data path" will be something like "c:\program files..."

If that's the case, it means that POP Peeper is unable to save any accounts, settings, or your messages (to name a few things); and this means that POP Peeper has to retrieve your messages every time that POP Peeper starts, since it's not able to cache them.

To allow us to help you fix this, let us know what the 2 values are on the Tools / Options / Storage page:
- Ini Location
- Data path
Or review the following FAQ:
https://www.esumsoft.com/products/pop-p ... q=DataPath

You can download POP Peeper v5.0.3 on the download page:
https://www.esumsoft.com/download/
which will fix the crash; but the fix is more of a bandage since it won't fix the bad data path (which can only be fixed by adjusting the proper settings).

Hi Jeff,

indeed, the storage path had only the word "data", no real path.
After I cleared the field and restarted Pop Peeper the app is not crashing anymore.
Now the path is C:\Users\<username>\AppData\Roaming\POP Peeper

BUT: The subfolders of the Mailbox names stayed empty, which caused that Pop Peeper had to reload all mails at start of app.
Now I downloaded 5.0.3 and installed
Now every subfolder contains a file with name "data", and after starting Pop Peeper again there is no need to reload all prior mails.

O/S is Win10-2004
No VPN

Thanks for your quick support!

I've cached the same issue in my v5.0.3, do I need to proceed with the procedure you explained for old versions or just reinstall this one?

If your "ini location" and/or "data path" are stored under "Program Files" then you really need to move them out following the FAQ provided:
