I am receiving duplicate emails, same time stamp, but different signature

Post by gordon »

Hi,
I have received letters that are exact duplicate, but different signatures.
It happened a few days ago, and I ignored.
Today I received duplicate mail again.
I am running V5, but posting here seems more generic.
Is this a PP issue?
I recently installed NextDNS.

Here is a snippet from letter1 (I edited my gmail address):

Hi gordon,

One question for you: Are you receiving the duplicate emails only in Gmail, or are you also receiving them in accounts other than Gmail?

Given the holiday season, there may be delays in responses from other members of The Esumsoft Team reviewing the issue you're having.

Cheers!

spc3rd,
I have only had 2 letters duplicated.
Both went to my gmail account.
My gmail account is my primary account, it is notable that
I have had only 2 duplicates.
One of those 2 was from amazon, the other was from sonic.net.
I wonder if I have an issue with bcc: ?
Or maybe the people sending mail have a bcc: problem.
Maybe these senders put my address in to: and bcc:
That would create separate letters?

Is it possible that you have Gmail Client Filters (on the web) that would cause this behavior regarding the two "from" (sending) domains (Go to Gmail: "Settings" page >"Filters..." tab) -- that is any filters in the top area of "all incoming mail" (on that page)?

If you haven't received any more duplicates since these last two then you might contact the sender about the possibility that duplicate copies had been sent (by mistake).

lakrsrool,
OK, I see no filter on my online gmail.
I think you can close this thread.
It seemed more suspicious when I first posted.
The lockdown has me a bit jumpy.
And it did not help that amazon flagged my comment without
telling me which of the 50 guidelines I violated.
I wrote a letter to Bezos, he will not read it, but gave me some satisfication.
It was one of his new minions that sent one of the duplicate mails.
Probably just an accidental copy.
I have using email since 1993 and this is first time I have seen duplicate mail, go figure.
Now where is my netflix DVD :-)

Thank you gordon for letting us know it's not a POP Peeper problem Image (... I sort of figured they were probably accidental duplicates). I'll get those kinds of duplicate messages from time to time - one after the other (in many cases it's presumably due to a glitch of some kind sending out emails ).
