Is the error you're getting -- "sending of the message failed" -- coming from PP or TB? If that's the exact error message, it's not coming from PP, unless it's coming from the SMTP server (in which case, I don't know where TB is coming into play). If the message is coming from TB, then we can just ignore that part.

So, I'm going to focus on the 2nd part that you mentioned -- that PP is using TB to reply.

There are 2 possible sources for this:

1) Check if the SendMail plugin is installed and enabled:
a) PP main menu: Tools / Plugins
b) Look for "SendMail" in the list (
c) If it's there, make sure that it's enabled (checkmark'd)
-> based on the info you pasted, it should be there and I expect it to be enabled, but please confirm

2) If it's displayed and enabled, then make sure the account hasn't changed:
a) Edit the account in PP
b) Select the "Send Mail" page
c) The "Send Option" should be set to SMTP (and not "email client")

In either case, did you notice any issues with the update (tbh, if it's the 2nd scenario, update shouldn't be a factor)? In the case of the 2nd case (which is the more likely scenario), do you have any other accounts that you have regularly used to send-mail/reply and is it also affected?

Hi,
Yes the send option was set to email client.
I changed it to SMTP
When I update, I get message:
A required field is invalid.
I assume that is the SMTP field.
When I go to the SMTP field, I see:
enabled smtp.sbcglobal.net
enabled mail.sbcglobal.net
Then I run
Test selected servers
I get
Unknown Host The server could not be found
Connection Error The server exists bu did not allow a connection
Bad cconnection An unkown error occurred, possibly try again

I wonder if SBCglobal.net is depracated?

Looks like the correct servers are:
imap.mail.att.net
smtp.mail.att.net

Sorry for the confusion -- to clarify, you should use the 2nd server (smtp.mail.att.net) on your "Send Mail" page; but I also provided the suggested imap server (imap.mail.att.net) for your "general" page in case it needed to be updated, as well.

I checked the General page:
Incoming server:
imap.mail.yahoo.com

Expansion of the Incoming server, this is the second attached file:
Incoming server:
imap.mail.att.net
Outgoing server:
outbound.att.net

The Incoming server seems to be inconsistent on the attached (yahoo vs att)?

The Outgoing server does not match the smtp.mail.att.net
Should that be changed here?
I thought we changed the Outgoing server on the sendmail page?

It seems there are more than one place to enter the servers?
If so, how do you know which is source?

sbcglobal.net email accounts have been provided by Yahoo for as long as I can remember (I've never been a sbcglobal customer, but having seen through tech support). Kind of ironic ever since Yahoo got bought out by Verizon.

Anyway, your Yahoo server setting for the imap server is fine. You could probably do the same for your send mail account (ie. smtp.mail.yahoo.com), but that's up to you. If everything is working now, you can just leave it. If you haven't tried sending a test message with the new smtp server, then you should try it; and if you get an error, then change it to smtp.mail.yahoo.com.

The 2nd screenshot that you posted is the result of pressing the "..." button next to the server. That button will perform auto-configuration based on your email address (these settings may come from the service provider itself or from a database provided by Mozilla). This does not reflect your *current* settings -- it represents the *proposed* settings and will overwrite your current settings if you press "OK".

Suffice it to say, at&t's email server settings are kind of a mess.
