Banner in the program

Post by VcSaJen »

Can this banner be removed by editing some config files, or POP Peeper is now adware?

It can be removed by purchasing a license. The banner only advertises my/Esumsoft products. Full details are available here:

I've never seen a banner like that. That line is always blank for me.

I believe it is due to my Tinywall firewall configurations. I only allow Pop Peeper to connect to POP/SMTP email ports, and the 80/443 ports for outgoing traffic. That banner must be served on an incoming http port so just block it.

I will say as far as banners go on freeware, it is pretty minimal. It wouldn't bother me if I saw it once in awhile.

Just to clarify -- POP Peeper rarely shows a banner; usually only when there's a sale (I believe the Cyber Monday ad in the prior post was the last campaign displayed, even though there was a Winter sale last month) and the banner is often only shown for 1 day.

You'll see a permanent banner if POP Peeper doesn't have permission to download the file.
