If you want to create a new translation, or update an existing one, there is a tool called PPLC that allows you to do this:
Download PPLC v5.0

If you are updating from a previous language file, please see the message below for additional changes.

Before starting on a new translation, post a message in this forum indicating the language so that no one else is duplicating the work.

If you are not the original translator for a language that already exists, please post to this forum and ask first.

Before emailing your translation, make sure that you have seen the "Send Mail" section in PPLC, which is available in a dropdown on the bottom-left. Also, make sure that you have run the validation on BOTH sections.

Please subscribe to this post to get announcements when PPLC has been updated.
To subscribe: press the "wrench" icon near the bottom of this page and select "Subscribe topic"

PPLC v3.8.1 is now available (download link in top post).

PP v3.8.1 is not currently available; however, it adds one or two translations from v3.8 and I don't expect any other translations will be necessary once v3.8.1 is released.

PPLC v4.0 is now available (download link in top post).

If you don't already have POP Peeper v4, you can download v4 here:
http://www.esumsoft.com/download/
It is not absolutely necessary to have v4 to translate, but it makes it easier to check your translations within the context of POP Peeper.

The following translations have a volunteer:
(edit: this list is not maintained; for an up-to-date list, please refer to the languages webpage)
Chinese - simplified
Chinese - traditional
Czech
Danish
Finnish
French
German
Greek
Hebrew
Italian
Russian

If you are willing and able to translate into any other language, please contact me via email (support at poppeeper dot com).

PPLC v4.1 rev4 (download link in first post)

This latest revision contains a few text and entire windows that were missing in the SendMail plugin.

It also finally includes some popular requests like the context menu on toolbars (show toolbar / show text / customize).

It also allows you to translate some of the custom-default toolbar buttons (View Sent, View Archive and Move-to)

Note that "Name" and "Email" are not translatable in the address book; that has some special issues, but maybe someday in the future.

One change: dialog 403 / 1693
I removed the reference to "GMail" and the entire 2nd line

If you have already submitted v4.2, I have emailed you with the update pending your approval.
Otherwise, if you have already downloaded and started working on v4.2, please be sure to update this text.

PPLC v4.4 (download link in first post)

I think that there is a grand total of one new dialog with 2 lines of text to translate (well, 1 line since you shouldn't translate "POP Peeper").

Since that didn't seem like much --

Program Updates
- The bug that caused the window to appear behind when PPLC starts has been fixed
- Updated the program icon to the esumsoft logo

v4.4 Rev 01 -- there were a couple of dialogs (408 and 409) that were mistakenly not included in the previous PPLC.

v5.0 Rev 02 --

Please note that there is a new distribution method for PPLC which takes advantage of POP Peeper's new auto-update feature. This is recommended and encouraged, please see the information here:
viewtopic.php?f=4&t=7293

There has been some slight changes to English text and you should consider updating the translations to reflect these changes:

SINCE REV 0:

- English text change on DIALOGS (module: "POP Peeper")
161
299
409
IMAP: copy to **server's** Sent folder

- Dialog 109/1660 and 109/1661 -- changed "disk" to "local storage"

- Dialog 280/1635 and 316/1635 -- changed "message limit" to "Max number of messages to retrieve"

Also note that POP Peeper will not reflect the following translations until beta 07+ (if you see any other text which incorrectly appears in English, please let me know):
- Smtp Dialog 1200
- (PPLC) "name" and "email" in Address book have been added (SMTP/Misc text)
- toolbar buttons "Junk" and "Legit"

The previous build of PPLC (5002) was buggy -- very sorry!

PPLC 5003 is now available. The changes for English text mentioned in the previous post still apply, so please review those changes.

PPLC 5005 will be coming soon

- Dialog 414 / 1768 -- English text changed from "preview" to "view"

- %1% -- There is a new concept which allows variables in the text. When you see numbers surrounded by percent signs (e.g. %1% or %2% etc.), you should include these same notations in your translated text and they will be replaced by the variable text. For example, the specific text that this was added for is:
"Your search does not contain any valid words.\n\nCommon words and words outside the range of %1%-%2% characters are excluded."
which would result in the text that's presented to the user:
"Your search does not contain any valid words.\n\nCommon words and words outside the range of 3-19 characters are excluded."

And you will be able to place the variables wherever and however you see fit into your translation.
