Gawab Offers free 2GB, POP3 Service

Post by war1 »

Gawab is now offering a free 2GB email account with POP3 and SMTP access. Previously, Gawab free offer was for 1GB and no POP3, or 15MB and POP3. Attachment size allowed is a whopping 50MB.

9 months ago, Gawab made a similar offer but closed the free offer within 10 days and made it a paid option. So they may closed this free offer soon. There are some censorship concerns of Yahoo groups.

Hi war1 , this was really a great hint , I checked Gawab email services and found them excellent ; it is fast , clean , works well w/ Opera and Firefox , and has many features .

I have already defined the Gawab account in Pop Peeper , and tested POP3 (a flash) and SMTP .

PS1 : Gawab is also multi-language , if this is a point .
PS2 : something to observ : on the PopP account definition the field Login Name must contain only the username for POP3 (General tab) , and must contain the full address for SMTP (tab Send Mail> Server Requires...> Settings> SMTP Authentication) .

JRF,

Thanks for testing the Gawab service. Thanks for pointing out the support of multi-language. It is based in Egypt.

Hi war1 , more about Gawab >

-they offer to retrieve other email addresses (deleting or not the original messages)

-inside Inbox or other specific folder you define (remembering that PopPeeper only picks from Inbox)

-w/ protocols POP3 , IMAP , Hotmail/MSN

-there is also an option to retrieve ALL (not clear , must be tested).

JRF,

What type of connection are you using? Broadband or Dialup? Static or Dynamic IP address?

I just switch to DSL, dynamic IP address, and I cannot access Gawab at all. No webmail, POP3, nor IMAP access. I had to go back to Dialup connection to write them to ask why. I am awaiting an answer.

My guess is that they use SORB blacklist, which blocks all dynamic IP addresses.

Hi war1 , as you see in my signature I am using a wirelles modem ; there is no space there to say it is a broadband connection , w/ dynamic IP addresses . This is for almost 2 years .
Just now I am accessing Gawab using Firefox (I have no PopP in this PC) , but it works even better w/ Opera .
The connection is the same for both PCs .

I opened a ticket and Gawab Supoort opened my access. I can now access via webmail and POP3. Thanks, JRF, that Gawab was not blocking all dynamic IP addresses.
