an idea for a new feature

Post by petspy »

Jeff, here's an idea you can steal, for a feature i would love to exploit if it's ever offered;

people have junk email address they use for various reasons, so they won't include them in their poppeeper account list.

however, on occasion it would be great to get a single email off those junk accounts by a whitelisted subject, sender, etc.
so my idea is to be able to apply a whitelist filter by account, so poppeeper checks the next 50 emails yet discards all but
the few that pass your user defined poppeeper by account whitelisted filter.

This can be accomplished by creating a Rule instead of the White List:

1) Select Rules and press the "Add" button
2) Give the Rule a name
3) For the first line of the rule:
- Set the dropdown box to "+Account" (about 2/3 of the way down)
- Put your account name in the text field on the right
- Tick the "Req" checkbox -- this line is "required" (ie. only applies to this account)
4) On the next line of the rule:
- Set the dropdown box to "+FromAddress" (about in the middle)
- Change the "Contains" dropdown to "Equals"
- Put the email address you want to whitelist in the text field on the right
- do NOT tick the "req" checkbox
5) Optionally, repeat step #4 for more email addresses that you want whitelisted (add each email address as a new +FromAddress line). As long as one of the email address hits AND it's on the account from step #3, this rule will apply. If you want to do something similar for another account, you can either create a new rule (starting at step #1) or you could include additional accounts in the list of the first line for the +Account, separated by commas: (e.g. Account1, Account2, etc.). This would be useful if you expect multiple accounts to receive email from the same addresses; otherwise, I'd probably create a new rule to keep it more organized.

6) On the bottom-left, select "Classify as Legitimate".
7) Optional: if you never receive spam (ie. phishing) from these email addresses, you could increase the "weight" to better ensure that other filters won't think it's spam by setting the weight to '2' or more. (ie. just because you have this rule that thinks it's legit, doesn't mean that Bayesian and/or URIBL or even another rule, etc. won't think it's spam)
8) Press OK

3) For the first line of the rule:

where is this? in one of your optional plug-ins?
I only use webmail, ssl and imap.

This is in reference to the AntiJunk plugin settings. If you have the AntiJunk plugin then you will be able to do this by selecting from the main interface menu: "Tools" > "AntiJunk" > "Main interface" (or if you are using the toolbar button, by selecting the "AntiJunk" button to access the settings, see image below), then select the "Rules" tab to create or change rules.

For more information on this please CLICK HERE for a Pop Peeper Help page where you can scroll down and watch a video on the topic, more specifically later on in the video regarding "Advanced features of AntiJunk" where the last topic discusses creating a "rule".
