incoming email, messages in the tray ?
When POP Peeper gets new incoming email, can the number messages appear in the tray ?
Re: incoming email, messages in the tray ?
From the POP Peeper main menu try going to "Tools" > "Options" > "Tray Icon" to see if selecting "Rotate number of messages for each account" as displayed below will get what you want.
I haven't tried this myself, but this sounds like what you are asking for by selecting this option in the "New mail tray icon" section as illustrated in the screen-shot.Good judgment comes from experience and a lot of that comes from bad judgment. - Will Rogers

Re: incoming email, messages in the tray ?
lakrsrool yes it is what you want is their a way to make the tray icon another color
Re: incoming email, messages in the tray ?
The color will be what the color is set at for the account that has the new messages. If the account getting messages is the color GREEN then the icon with the number of messages will be GREEN, if the account is the color RED then the icon with the number of messages will be RED, if the account is the color BLUE then the icon with the number of messages will be BLUE and so on. Since the icon will be whatever the account color is, you can EDIT the account and change the account color and then the icon will be that same color when it displays the number of messages.
If you go to the POP Peeper "Help" > "Contents" and search for "Tray icon" you will find the following:

POP Peeper Help wrote:There are three sets of tray icons that you can choose POP Peeper to display when you have new email:
•Classic Icons: This will show a mailbox with an animated flag
•Color-coded Icons: The icon design is similar to "Classic Icons," but the background color indicates which accounts have new email. This option is not available on 8-bit displays (256 color mode).
•Rotate number of new messages: This will display directly in the tray how many messages each account has. The background color indicates which accounts have new email.

lakrsrool apologize for all theses questions I am trying to set up my setting can I please ask you your setting of some options in pp I will tell you the setting options you tell me what your settings are please
Re: incoming email, messages in the tray ?
I color code my accounts according to the Email provider (domain), for example Hotmail/Outlook account(s) would be RED, Yahoo accounts would be GREEN etc., EXAMPLES BELOW. I use the classic icon (with animated flag) however so the account colors are not reflected in the tray icon in my case, the purpose of the account color is just to distinguish accounts in the POP Peeper main window.
HOTMAIL/OUTLOOK ACCOUNT: YAHOO ACCOUNT: By doing this above as illustrated then if you use the tray icon setting you have tried the color of the icon will match the color of the account so that you would know which accounts are getting the new mail (numbered in the icon) based on the color of the tray icon.

What you might think about doing is going to "Help" > "Contents" and reading through some of the POP Peeper help there.

sportman12, please be sure and do NOT include any personal (private) information when corresponding in the forum including attached images.
Notice that I have modified or redacted (removed) all personal (private) information in the screen-shots I previously posted with specific account information, you must make sure that you do the same.
I am retiring for the evening now as it is getting late, if you have any further questions possibly another POP Peeper support team member can provide additional help, otherwise if not you will need to wait until tomorrow for any further questions you may have. Hopefully what I have provided will help you out for now.

Jeff what is your set up please give me a screenshot
Re: incoming email, messages in the tray ?
sportman12, I posted my settings before, it was included in my first screen-shot. I use "classic icons" (as illustrated in my screen-shot), but you had asked for something different (you wanted to know if the number of messages can be displayed in the tray icon).sportman12 wrote:lakrsrool »what is the difference for what I have for tray icon and what you have ?
I suggested what you could try because you started out the forum topic with this question:
Here is the same screen-shot again that I first posted to this topic in answer to the topic question (where I suggested you try the setting illustrated in this screen-shot to get what you requested): sportman12, the POP Peeper options are for the preferences of people using POP Peeper. I would like to say however that in recent posts you have generally been asking about getting alerts for "new" mail. I would suggest that you try unchecking the option (see screen-shot below) you have checked that says "Tray icon reflects status of unread messages instead of new messages" in the "miscellaneous" section of the "Tray Icon" setting you included in your very last screen-shot above, note that by unchecking this option you would get the status of "NEW MESSAGES" which seems to me is what you have frequently been asking about recently. You will notice in the screen-shot that I first posted in reply to this topic and am now including here again in this post, I have this option unchecked in my case.sportman12 wrote:When POP Peeper gets new incoming email, can the number messages appear in the tray ?

Try it out and let us know if this is what you want.

Re: incoming email, messages in the tray ?
sportman, like lakrsrool said, the tray icon settings are going to be dependent on your personal taste and the best way to decide which works best for you is to try each one for a day or two. Also, for example, the option, "tray icon reflects status of unread messages" that lakrsrool's also pointed out, may not be as obvious what it's doing if you don't understand exactly what it's doing. If you tend to leave messages unread, then this option should *not* be enabled; but if you generally have all your messages marked as read and you want a reminder that you have unread messages, then it can be useful.
Personally, I use "color-code by account" but I have so many accounts and different colors that there's only a couple colors that I really pay attention to. And I leave a lot of unread messages, so "tray icon reflects status of unread messages" is disabled.

Re: incoming email, messages in the tray ?
I'm confused about your post concerning a "circle with the white number".sportman12 wrote:Jeff or lakrsroo in . I have sent a test message to an account that is color coded red. I am using the "Rotate number of new messages for each account" like you have done.
This is the result I get when a new message arrives:
1) The tray icon looks like this in my black status bar because the account color is red (so the circle is red) and there is a number "1" in the circle because one new message arrived in the POP Peeper inbox for this account. 2) This is the new message in the POP Peeper inbox, notice the "new mail" icon and that the account is red. What is it that you are getting that is different than this when a new message arrives in POP Peeper?

Re: incoming email, messages in the tray ?
lakrsrool in tray icon the only way the circle comes with a number "is if it is set to Tray icon reflects status of unread messages instead of new messages you to ?
Re: incoming email, messages in the tray ?
If you check the option above then the Tray Icon will display the status for "unread messages", in other words the number of "unread messages" you have in POP Peeper.sportman12 wrote:lakrsrool in tray icon the only way the circle comes with a number "is if it is set to Tray icon reflects status of unread messages instead of new messages you to ?
If you do not check the option above (like what you see above without check) then the Tray Icon will display the status for "new messages", in other words the number of "new messages you have in POP Peeper.
The option says: Tray icon reflects status of unread messages instead of new messages which is only true if this option is checked or to put it another way it is what you get in the Tray Icon if this option is checked. (New messages is what in my opinion most people will use so this option is most likely usually unchecked for most people and is the default value I might add)
Whether you check this box is up to what you want to see in the Tray Icon.
If you want to see the number of "new messages" then leave the option unchecked (without the check mark which is the default setting), which is what I do and what Jeff does.
If on the other hand you want to see the number of "unread messages" then check the box (place a check mark in box), as Jeff pointed out, you would only want to do this if you usually read most of your messages and don't leave very many unread message behind in your inbox and you want to know how many unread messages there still might be that remain for each account.
I had previously suggested that it seems that you would be more interested in the "new" messages that arrive in POP Peeper based on previous remarks you have made. So I have suggested that perhaps you would probably prefer to have what you would get in your Tray Icon if you leave this option unchecked (without a check mark) so that you will see the number of "new" messages in POP Peeper for each account.
Go over what Jeff previously posted (in part) again:
... which is to say that Jeff leaves this option UNCHECKED. To reiterate, both Jeff and I have this setting unchecked (disabled) so that we will see the number of "new" messages. This is your choice however, but again I have suggested to you that you try unchecking this option and see if this is what you want.Jeff wrote:.... the tray icon settings are going to be dependent on your personal taste....
