There was a time a couple years ago (around the v4.0 release) that I had seriously considered developing a mobile app, but it just hasn't happened.
The phrasing of your question is interesting though, "syncing with PP for PC" as opposed to "syncing with the servers" -- I'm not sure if you meant that literally? "Interesting" because that's an approach I had considered and liked, ie. PP/PC would run and periodically upload an xml file containing new message information which the mobile app would download and process. The downside to this approach, of course, is that PP would always have to be running on the PC, but it would have a lot of advantages, too, and be able to do things that might not otherwise be practical on a mobile platform (e.g. it would theoretically be much cheaper on bandwidth and battery).
