Deleting a password protected e-mail

Post by MC_Kejml »

Hello,

I was trying to connect our MS Exchange server with poppeper via DavMail, as described here - viewtopic.php?f=3&t=3819. It didn't go well, probably our server is behind a firewall. But a strange thing happened, I cannot edit the account in poppeeper, nor delete it - it prompts me for a password. I have tried every password I know, to no use.

Any ideas? Thanks!

Since DavMail "didn't go well" as you stated, have you uninstalled DavMail?

A couple of suggestions:
- Try the password used to log into your email account; if you changed the password semi-recently, also try the previous password(s)
- Try an empty password

If all else fails, you can manually delete it from the ini file:
1) Find where your ini file is kept under main menu: Tools / Options / Storage: "Ini Location"
2) EXIT POP PEEPER
3) Edit the ini file with your favorite text editor (perhaps make a backup of this file first, just in case)
4) Search for [AccountName] where "AccountName" is the name of your account, enclosed with [...]
5) If you've ever used an ini file, it should be pretty straight-forward what you need to delete. But, essentially, you want to delete the entire section: each line -- including the [AccountName] line -- until the next blank line
6) Save the file *
7) Restart PP and the account should be gone

* - there's a chance that your text editor won't be able to save the file (because of UAC). In that case, save the file somewhere else (save as) and then copy the file back to the original location using Windows Explorer. Alternatively, starting the text editor with admin permissions (in step #3) may also work.
