Pop Peeper No Longer Working With AOL

Pop Peeper has stopped working with AOL entirely hence this new thread.

It not working on the 2 PC it had worked on before and April 25th is the last messages I received.

I tried changing setting on one of my PC to see if different settings would work use the PP tool that shows different servers and settings to use.

This is the setting from the PC I changed my settings and my other PC is unavailable until tomorrow so I cant post that info right now.

Can this happening from me acct being moved from Verizon to AOL? Posting now for help and questions. Thanks!

That weird that no one else is using AOL, PP and a verizon email address?

Why has getting my AOL verizon email been such a problem no other email acct gives me all this grief.

I finally found some AOL help but on the link I posting but here is the error after I pop settings and I tried imap which didnt work either

Hi techmanc,

Have you logged into this account on the web successfully (no messaged for you to do anything for example)?

Have you tried rebooting your computer?

Has POP Peeper been doing successful Mail Checks (without errors) between the time when you first reported the "Error ([SYS/TEMP] Server error" - Please try again later.)" error this morning at 4:45 am and when you have just recently again reported the same "Error ([SYS/TEMP] Server error - Please try again later.)" error again virtually 15 hours later at 7:40 pm?

The reason I am asking is because based on the error information you have provided it appears that perhaps successful Mail Checks (without any errors) have occurred during this 15 hour period of time. And on that point, if I am not mistaken this is typically a "temporary error" and as such can occur occasionally.

From what I can see you do have the correct settings for POP3.

And you have said that IMAP "didn't work either" (which is in general the preferred protocol to use in most cases).

If you continue to get this same error consistently with very few if any successful Mail Checks then please reset the account back to IMAP and copy/paste the error you get in your next reply.

Also you might want to take a look at THIS POST by Jeff (regarding the "login name" you are using) in another topic you started about 9 weeks ago on the same exact subject as noted by Pete (spc3rd). It appears that this same exact "Error ([SYS/TEMP] Server error - Please try again later.)" error has been occasionally occurring from the time of that other topic in February and now in late April.

Question: between February and now -- has POP Peeper been doing Mail Checks successfully for the most part?

I can access the AOL website with no problem to read my email

PC been rebooted many times with since the problem started and most tellingly thing is I been having the same problem on both my PC that are using Pop Peeper and AOL?Verizon email acct.

I mean the AOL link that I just posted seems to indicate there has some problem with using correct settings/verizon aol acct .

I have 4 other email accounts using Pop Peeper and the only one that been having a problem is the verizon/aol one.

This last problems been there since the 24th and I check my mail every 5 mins using my PC 12 hrs a day with same problem.

I can get my email using Outlook 2016 and accessing it at the AOL website thankfully is allowing me to access my email but Pop Peeper need to find out whats causing this annoying problem or let me know why its not working!

What is the "login name" are you using just the "username" or the full email address "username@verizon.net"?

Please change the account back to IMAP and then post the Error Overview you get in your next reply just as you did previously when using POP3.

Are you currently getting errors using IMAP?

If you are still using POP3 (note: all of your Error Overview information is based in using POP3) --- please change from POP3 to IMAP and if you still get errors please post the Error Overview information using IMAP.

Ok I had to recheck the logon name and it didnt have the @verizon.net and once I added that its working so glad that finally figured out ty.

Once again cant connect to my verizon/aol acct after trying every setting I had.

I used the PP tools tried full user and not full user name. Tried both POP and IMAP and use all the setting that were on the AOL help I posted earlier.

I guess I need to find a new email notifier as my main email is my verizon one and that the only one not working.

Please post the Error Overview data as you have in the past. Keep in mind to obscure (remove) your email address however for privacy reasons when posting. Thanks.

Btw, has the account been working since April 27 (when you last reported it working again) until just now?

I have tried many different settings and I am know every time I run the to get my email I will get different errors based on the new settings.

I need to know the exact setting that I need to make in PP so I can apply them and start getting my email again.

I setup a dummy acct to see it what would happen and get 2 messages one acct with full email address and 1 with normal logon as I can access my email yet.

Is your "Login Name" your full email address? (this is what fixed it back on April 27)

Are you using any antivirus with email scanning, or some other security software that may affect email?

Are you using 2-step verification? (should be disabled, OR you should be using an app-specific password for POP Peeper)
Are you allowing "apps that use less secure sign in"? (should be enabled) [edit: I accidentally suggested it should be "disabled" originally]
both these can be found in your AOL security settings: https://login.aol.com/account/security


Do you have a "regular" AOL/AIM account and does it work or not?

Would you be willing to let me access one of your accounts so that I can see if I can access it? Ideally, this would be a new AOL account that you don't care about, but the new test account on Verizon should also work. In either case, please make sure that you change the password to something that you would not ordinarily use. Then, email the login/password to me (do not use the forum or forum PM) at (support at esumsoft dot com).

no scanners or av no other security no 2 step no other aol the only thing that happened was installing a AOL patch that was avail some time back.

You can access my acct if this is only way to make the repair

To wrap this up, techmanc's Verizon account is working again after fixing some typos.

In case anybody else is having issues with Verizon, I'll repeat the recommended settings:
Server Type: IMAP
Incoming server: imap.aol.com
SSL/TLS
Port: 993
Login name: full email address (example@verizon.net)
