Hi I recently resurrected my old Win 7 as a safety backup to Win 10 in case of any future major problems.
However on its first test Win 7 wasn't responding to the emails I was getting ok on Win 10 saying it couldn't contact the SMTP server, also those I sent to myself as tests so I uninstalled the old PP on Win 7 and downloaded the latest one 4.5.0.0 but it's still the same. I'd also previously marked several old emails for removal but they're still there as well so giving the impression something's stuck somehow.
So I must be doing something wrong somewhere....

Please post the error information you are getting into this topic -- this helps us to know more what may be the problem.
For assistance to do this please reference this link: How to view them & copy/paste into your post. Thank you.

Re: Updating Win 7 & Pop Peeper
That looks correct, so you probably have a firewall or other security software blocking POP Peeper's access on that port. By default, the built-in Windows Firewall shouldn't cause a problem (unless you've knowingly changed its settings), so I would look at any 3rd party firewalls. Another distinct possibility is AntiVirus that isn't configured correctly; you can try disabling the AV for outgoing mail.

Unfortunately not beng a techie or expert didn't want to risk doing anything which could make things worse, so apart from uninstalling and reinstalling which didn't change things is there a way to forcibly the remove the old PP as it's still showing the same errors ?

Re: Updating Win 7 & Pop Peeper
arcadian - would you please refer back to my post which includes the link on how to post error messages into a topic and follow the steps as illustrated in that link. That is to say do not copy a part of the error by selecting and copying just the error-lines but instead click on the "Copy" button as described and then follow through with the remaining steps to post the entire "Error Overview" Information... Or you could also select from the main POP Peeper menu "File">"Error overview..." and click on that "Copy" button in that "Error Overview" window (regardless if any error info displays or not) and then paste (right-click and select "Paste") the information to your post in this topic (which will provide the same information I am speaking of).
Also are you aware of what software you might have on that machine in the way of security (i.e. Firewalls, Anti-virus Programs) and if so please post that information as well.
