Mark a message

Post by lian »

Hello, my mail account is on IMAP and I want to mark clearly some messages to remember to answer later. I can use an icon but there are small (the glasses icon is ridiculous, you have to wear very good glasses to see it). And it seems that for IMAP accounts, the icon is cleared if I close Popeeper. Is there any solution for this?

Try widening the column. Better yet: right-click on the message list's header and select "use optimal sizes". The glasses, in particular, are wider than the other icons so are more affected when they're scrunched for space.

Or, draw your own. Instructions to add icons are in the help file; index: "user flags"

Two features in POP Peeper v5.0 have been added to assist with this:
1) A new important/star user flag which can be easily toggled via a keyboard shortcut (default: Ctrl+I)
2) An option that requires you to explicitly mark a message as read. ie. simply viewing the message won't mark it as read, so you have to mark it read, or delete it, or reply to it.

Are you saving message data? Check under:
main menu: Tools / Options / Storage; There's a "storage" option that must be set to either "headers" or "entire". If it's been changed to "none", then that means that PP doesn't save the message data and PP has to retrieve your existing messages every time PP restarts. The user flag is not a server-side option, which means that setting is also lost.

Otherwise: have you noticed that this only affects specific accounts? Because the type of account is irrelevant, it's not treated any different depending on the type of account. If you have another type of account you may want to double-check it.

Thanks for all the tips. Very useful and I may add my own icons. Is there any planned release date for v.5 ? The new features seem promising.

"When it's ready." Watch the various outlets (blog, newsletter, facebook/twitter, announcement forum, etc.) for information about beta testing, if you're interested.
