Very faint font in Rich Text mode

Post by PopTwiddles »

Hello again

When I view an email in Rich Text mode, some of the content is barely visible due to the font being grey:

Is there any method of changing this ? (I can`t find one but may be looking in the wrong place)

((In text-only mode all the text is black & blue for links, and quite visible))

Rich text frequently has display issues when converting html generated by newsletters and similarly "auto-generated" content (ie. indiscriminate use of CSS). Plain text may not be any better (lots of these types of emails only contain HTML), so you may be better off using HTML. Hide images if necessary, or rely on Smart HTML if you trust the source.

Thankyou.

With regard to viewing messages in HTML - is javascript managed in any way by PP ?

ie: allowed to run, neutered or blocked ?

I searched 'javascript' on this forum and no pertinent results appeared....

searching the help file shows:

Several options are available that will decrease or eliminate the risks of reading your email (viruses, javascript, webbugs, etc).

I presume this is referring to the use of Rich Text or Plain Text..and nothing else ?

So I wonder about viewing emails in HTML - what are they actually allowed to do without any user interaction.
Attachments, even dubious ones are presumably safe until executed but I have no experience with whatever else can occur when viewing in HTML
and what the associated risks are.

That said, I am naturally inclined to use Text Mode only, previously I was using Thunderbird (version 2) which had some kind of "hybrid" mode which formatted text somewhat yet wasn`t vulnerable to scripting - so I believe.

Edit: I should mention that I only use POP3 exclusively

Under main menu: Tools / Options / View messages are the options:
- HTML: block external images and data
- HTML: Process attachments
