email Header Not Visible in PopPeeper

Post by Ralf_CT »

I'm sitting with a strange problem. I've set up PopPeeper to 'peep' at several email addresses, including 'A' and 'B'. Here's the current scenario: if I send a test email to 'A', it shows up on a 'Check email' in PopPeeper. If I sent an email to 'B', which has been set up on the server to send a copy to 'A', I can see the email sent to 'B' when doing a 'Check email' in PopPeeper, but not 'A'. However, when I download my emails via Thunderbird I also download the copy sent by 'B' to 'A'. The settings for 'A' are exactly the same, otherwise I wouldn't be able to see an email sent only to 'A'.

I must be missing something somewhere.

Hello Ralf_CT,

I have a couple of questions for you:

1. What type of email accounts are "A" and "B"?
(E.g., Yahoo, Hotmail/Outlook, Gmail, etc.)

2. How are you accessing those email accounts in POP Peeper?
(I.e., what is the Server Type: IMAP, POP3, Webmail)

To view this: Right-click the email account in the Account List > select Edit Account > [GENERAL] tab, look at what is shown beside Server type.

Other members of The Esumsoft Team should be stopping-by at some point to further review your topic, and may have additional questions and feedback for you.

Thank you & best regards,

They are all POP3 accounts on our own domain.

It's hard to grasp the exact situation without knowing the specific details, but if I had to guess, I'd say it's probably getting caught by the "BCC" rule in AntiJunk. The "BCC" rule will hide messages that are from yourself AND that do not appear in the To/Cc fields (ie. email that you bcc to yourself).

To see if that's the case, you can temporarily unhide messages by disabling "hide hidden messages" under the main "Messages" menu (hidden messages will appear in italics). Find one of these messages: right-click on it and select AntiJunk -> Show evaluation. If you see "BCC" listed under "Rules," then there you go.

If you want to disable this rule:
main menu: Tools / AntiJunk -> Main interface
select "Rules" page on the left
find and uncheck "BCC" (or, alternatively, just disable the "hide" action, as you probably don't want to get notified of such messages)

Hi Jeff, you're right, the BCC email appeared in italics and was hidden. I've unchecked "BCC" and "Enable Display Filters", a new BCC email now no longer appears in italics. It seems the new version brought in several new - sometimes unwanted - features which are enabled by default.

Thank you!

Edit: As the Developer you're probably interested in how we use your software. I basically use PopPeeper solely to download headers as text. I then decide what is spam and delete from the server. PopPeeper is the best thing that's happened to email, within seconds one can delete multiple emails without downloading from the server.
