can't send email from TWC account

Post by allen08 »

I can' send any email from my roadrunner account, I have checked all settings
and have talked to tech support from spectrum but according to there settings
I have every thing OK. I can send from other accounts to RR but not from RR.
Any suggestions would be appreciated. I can go to there web site and send
mail but that not what I want to do all the time.

What is the error you are getting in POP Peeper (please post in this topic) when attempting to send mail (SMTP)?

Please post your POP Peeper "Send Mail" settings.

Presumably they are:
SMTP Server: mail.twc.com
SMTP Port: 587 SSL/TLS
Server requires authentication is checked.

Have you tried rebooting your computer? (if not, try this)

When did this issue start?

Was the account working before in the past?

What version of POP Peeper are you using (Help/About POP Peeper)?

What Operating System are you using (is it current)?

Have you made any updates, changes or added or changed any "security" software on your computer that would coincide with time this issue started?

What Firewall are you using?

Have you tried disabling the Firewall to see if this makes a difference?

Please post any other relevant information you can think of that has been done on your computer about the time this issue started.

latest version of Pop Peeper
Windows 10 latest version
Windows firewall
Windows defender
have rebooted
no known security issues
yes use VPN but have tried with/without no difference
not real sure when it started doing this as I don't usually send from that account
as I said all other accounts work (Gmail, Yahoo and Outlook)
It is not a deal breaker but if you want to forward an email it would be quicker
to be able to use that account rather than have to log in on web site.

I didn't notice this before -- I'm not sure where mjs got those server settings from, but if you confirmed that with yours -- it's not quite accurate.

Port 587 goes with STARTTLS; SSL/TLS goes with port 465. You should only change the SSL option to whichever and POP Peeper will adjust the port accordingly.

I don't have twc in my state, so I'm not too familiar with its history, but I assume its current owner is spectrum? According to this:
https://www.spectrum.net/support/intern ... mail-setup
they state port 587 which means that you should be using STARTTLS and not SSL/TLS (for SMTP). (ftr, that is quite possibly the worst table of email settings I've ever seen: "port 993; port 587" without clarifying that the first port is for imap and the second port is for smtp)

Conclusion: Change smtp SSL settings to 'STARTTLS' (port 587)

If you still get an error, please include the full error provided by POP Peeper: press the "Copy Log" button from the error window (press the yellow '!' button in the status bar [bottom-right of main window]) and paste that (text) into your reply.
