Dear Friends:
Trying to authenticate my gmail account in Pop Peeper.
More than a dozen tries, with always a fail at the end, and the following message in the browser (tried Edge, Firefox and Chrome) after log in to GMail account and :
"...your browser could not establish a connection to server 127.0.0.1:56809..."
Please see the attached images. Thank you in advance for your kind help.
Regards,
EJVS.
Oauth2 Authentification Process
Re: Oauth2 Authentification Process
Specifically for Gmail, POP Peeper creates a listening port for your browser to send the Oauth code back to POP Peeper. This is only necessary when creating the Oauth2 token (ie. when you use your browser to grant POP Peeper permission to access your gmail account). If you're running a 3rd party firewall, make sure that it's not blocking this. You may also try running POP Peeper with elevated privileges (ie. run as admin), but I would suggest that you only run it this way temporarily (ie. run PP as admin, authenticate your gmail account(s), then exit and restart PP as normal).
As an alternative, you can also use app-passwords for Google instead of Oauth2:

Re: Oauth2 Authentification Process
What version of POP Peeper are you using (under Help / About)?
What Windows OS are you using?

Re: Oauth2 Authentification Process
I had tested Gmail/Oauth2 on 2 instances before my first response, but your error is indicative of something happening; perhaps 3rd party.
However, the best solution is to use an app password:

Hi Jeff:
The "app password solution" you proposed worked 100%.
Thank you.
All the best,
