Cwazy and Eumx are two of the most reliable email services. In recent postings, the owner of Cwazy has indicated he cannot support the free service alone anymore, and is asking for input if users are willing to pay.

In the same vain, Eumx owner has indicated he will make the service a paid account in January 2006. Existing users can retain their accounts as free. They may lose the SMTP access feature. Maybe less storage than 2GB.

It is difficult for these independent email providers to maintain a free service without some funding. I hope the services remain reliable and afloat.

Inbox.com is a webmail service offering 2GB storage and supposedly free of advertisement. But users have complained of getting a great deal of spam emails. There is no POP3 access at this time, although Inbox.com has indicated that POP3 access would be available in the Fall.

Spymac went through some changes in November 2004. They shut off free POP3 access while making those changes. Since then, Spymac has been relatively reliable until August 2005, when they make some more changes. Free POP3 access was again not working most of the month. They closed their forums. Reliability continues to be an issue with Spymac.

Good news: United Email Systems has been much more reliable the last month. Changing the email server from Atmail to Mereck and location of data center helped a great deal. Hope reliability continues to improve.

Regarding United Email Systems, althoug it claims storage is 3G. Please note that UES <auto-removal policies>, it does allow the storage over 128MB and the period more than 365 days or it will removal.
