As you may have heard, Microsoft has been developing a new premium service (i.e. a paid subscription) for Outlook.com users. Some current information about this latest endeavor by Microsoft can be found at the links further down.

It should be noted here that it doesn't sound like Microsoft is intending to make the average free-email user pay to continue using outlook.com. The service is for specific features beyond the typical free email service; e.g. "five personalized email address, an ad free inbox and improved calendar sharing."
