Messages on server but PopPeeper isn 't downloading them

I'm a long time user of Pop Peeper. This may have happened before but I don't remember. There are messages on the server (because I've looked) but Pop Peeper is not downloading them. When I try to log in, there is a several second sequence which I don't normally see while Pop Peeper is "logging in". Then - nothing. No messages are downloaded. There are no error messages that are displayed.
