Hello,

In the last couple of days Poppeeper has an error collecting emails.

It is for both Gmail and Hotmail (Outlook.com).

The error is "SSL Connection Failed".

I have checked the version of SSL and it is the latest version 1.1.1.14.

I have uninstalled Poppeeper twice (both kept my data files and deleted my data files) then reinstalled Poppeeper but the problem remains.

If you're running 3rd party AntiVirus, try disabling any email scanning that it has. If this works, then you know that the problem is in there.

Next: try rebooting Windows, and be sure to install any pending updates (if applicable).

Thanks for your reply.

Disabled the Anti-Virus email scanner component but the problem still remains. Even tried temporarily disabling the entire Anti-virus protection.

Rebooted and checked for any Windows updates but my computer is up to date. Problem still remains.

Is there a way of totally uninstalling Poppeeper? Maybe a standard uninstall may miss something?

Are you using the Avast Antivirus?

If so -- did you disable the Avast (Shields) using the icon in the Windows System Tray? If so, it has been reported that disabling Avast Shields using the task bar icon does not necessarily get the desired results.

More specifically, within the "Protection" Interface (of the app itself) you can disable the "Mail Shield" as well as all other "Shields" within the "Core Shields" dialog (see screen-shot below). Try this method and let us know if it makes a difference.

Thanks for your input.

I am running AVG Free (which is basically the same beast as Avast).

I manually turned off all shields that were available as per your instructions then exited Poppeeper an restarted it but I still have the same problem.

I somehow feel like something has gotten corrupt with Poppeeper that a standard uninstall/reinstall is not removing.

GOOD NEWS!

Tried another full uninstall and reinstall and my Poppeeper is working again.

I have no idea why it wasn't working but as long as it is working again then I am a happy camper.

Thanks to Jeff and mjs for your input and suggestions, we are none the wiser as to what happened but it is all good now.
