Re: Force compact option

Welcome to the forums, Cyp. The option to compact on next start is not something that's intended to be used casually. Unless you delete and receive thousands of messages every time, you're not going to notice any impact from compacting. You can define the number of days when PP performs the compact,...

Re: Living in Venezuela

The solution is to access the accounts using IMAP instead of GMail. This blog dates back to over a year ago, but it describes the details and how to switch to IMAP: http://www.esumsoft.com/blog/gmail/ (fyi: all you should need to do in PPv4 is change the server type to IMAP and PP will make the othe...

Re: Hotmail IMAP timing out

Many people have reported problems with Hotmail's IMAP server. I don't use Hotmail personally, but on the few tests I've run when such problems are reported, I have found that Hotmail's IMAP server is subpar, to put it mildly. You may have better luck by switching the "server type" to use ...

Re: ARCHIVE useless?

POP Peeper was never really designed to be a storage container for all your email. While many people have abandoned a true email client (myself included), using the server's storage (instead of local storage) is probably the norm. I never provide an ETA because it's never correct -- it's ready when ...

Re: After upgrade to V4.01 starting PP takes 45 seconds

The slow load times should be fixed in v4.1 -- at least it has for several people who have tested a fix.

If you're interested in testing it, drop me an email and I'll let you know when the first beta is ready, which should be later this week.

Re: ARCHIVE useless?

The common use is to use the Archived messages with the Sent Mail Viewer and so the filename is irrelevant. However, you bring up a good point and so all saved messages will be pre-pended with a timestamp (v4.1).

Re: Yahoo errors - Serverbug/Fetch, Limit/Capability

Any ideas why Yahoo at the time they were having issues was putting out "Error (Send)" errors on various Yahoo accounts at times even though we were not sending any mail at all during the time when those errors occurred? That error does not actually mean it has to do with SendMail; it mea...

Re: Annoying issue since last upgrade

This box can be caused when the Skin Notifier is enabled but it can't find the selected skin, or some files from the selected skin are missing. To fix, you'll need to select a valid skin: From PP's main menu, select Tools / Skin notifier -> Select skin Select a skin from the list; test it to make su...

Re: Yahoo errors - Serverbug/Fetch, Limit/Capability

So are these quicker mail checks in part a function of the different accounts working more smoothly and/or error free? There are several factors involved, but if you have even 1 Yahoo account, then it looks to me like they've improved (for now). There's a setting in POP Peeper that tells how many a...

Sorry, I must have misunderstood you -- I thought it was a one-time error that was fixed the next time you tried. Anyway, glad it's working now.

Re: Error Send Mail

It's hard to say what happened without knowing what the error was. But a possibility -- some accounts require that an incoming checkmail occur within a certain amount of time before sending.

Re: Can't login Gmail login error

You can follow the url that gmail provides in the error and you will *eventually* discover that you need to allow "less secure apps" (which is a bit of FUD); but here's the direct link: https://www.google.com/settings/security/lesssecureapps You will need to log into each account that you ...

Re: Yahoo errors - Serverbug/Fetch, Limit/Capability

Has anybody seen a consistent change in reliability? I just checked my accounts and the check mail process seemed much faster than my previous tests. Also, Yahoo's twitter page is no longer a constant barrage of "we're aware of a problem with mail" so hopefully things are back to normal ag...

Re: Configuring version 4.01

The AntiJunk plugin also provides more capabilities than just filtering spam. It can also be used to provide special notifications. Right now, this is primarily accomplished using Rules, for which the current GUI may be a little too overwhelming for people, so I plan on providing a more convenient m...

Re: receive/view own email

AntiJunk has a BCC rule that will hide messages from yourself. I recently modified the rule so that it will only affect true-BCC messages (ie. if sent to yourself in the To/CC field, the rule won't apply), but the update may not affect existing rules. So, you can either disable the rule, or update i...

I would try rebooting first, but if the exe installer doesn't work (and there's no reason it shouldn't...), there's also a zip file available on the download page.

Re: Configuring version 4.01

POP Peeper's AntiJunk filters are very non-aggressive by default. Meaning, PP doesn't actually do anything to the messages, it simply filters them so that they're not displayed in the message list. This allows you to review them at your leisure and you can easily move them back into the main message...

Re: Yahoo errors - Serverbug/Fetch, Limit/Capability

Someone emailed me with the same limit/capability error so I checked out my own accounts. On my first test, PP just timed out after sending the login info. Several attempts on several Yahoo accounts thereafter all succeeded, but still seemed slow. Ok, just got the limit/capability error. My first th...
