Re: Removing Windows notifcations when opening the interface
What method are you using to open PP? Better yet, provide a step-by-step procedure that details what you do and what you see at each step so that I can duplicate it precisely. Nothing special: I have these Visual notification settings: visual notification settings.png PP's interface is closed. A me...

Help system (i.e. POPPeeper.chm) doesn't work when it's being blocked
When I upgrade PP, I use the portable/ZIP version. As result, Windows blocks the files. I don't mind the EXE files being blocked, because I get an automatic prompt to unblock them upon usage. The issue is with the help system. PP doesn't know it's blocked so it launches it in a blank state. That is,...

Removing Windows notifcations when opening the interface
If PP announces a new message, you can cut it short by actually opening PP's interface. But it still keeps Windows' notifications. Can you remove them (by them I mean the white count, not the actual history of the notifications) once the interface is open? Or once PP submits its notifications to Win...

Re: Can I get Pop Peeper to keep my connection alive?
Well, POP Peeper is designed to be run all the time and not on demand, which is why I'm reluctant to add this type of feature. But this option is exactly what will make it run all the time, is it not? You may want to look for a program that prevents sleep from happening if a certain program is runn...

Re: Can I get Pop Peeper to keep my connection alive?
I'll try your suggestion! I've tried it and it took 40 seconds to get the connection back, which I guess is better than before. But I miss having it back instantly... Keep in mind it's 40 seconds not including the time it takes to wake the computer itself, input the password, etc. ethernet power se...

Re: Is v4.5.3 still in testing?
Do you have "Automatically check for updates" enabled and, if not, have you pressed the "check version" button? Latest version should say v4.5.3. You're right, clicking "checked version" solved it. So I've installed it and yet the UI makes it feel like it's still a &qu...

But as for a special use case, I thought the idea of the program is to always know when a mail comes in.

Add an indication of version mismatches
In some cases like this , the "latest" version is older than the current version. I suggest to have a little traffic light system in Help=>About to highlight such matters: If current < latest, highlight it in red (i.e. the user should fix this situation ASAP). If current > latest, highligh...

Is v4.5.3 still in testing?
The latest announcement still refers to v4.5.3 as a "pre-release", and unfortunately I had no time to test it. But today I randomly saw it on the homepage as an official version - when did this happen? So I've installed it and yet the UI makes it feel like it's still a "pre-release&qu...

Re: OpenSSL
Never got a reply to my last message. But it's now almost a year later and various new versions came out already. So after a one time exception in over a decade, I'm back to not using PP's official SSL. For those who want no dependencies on MS VC++ runtime, I'm talking about openssl-1.0.2u-i386-win3...

Can I get Pop Peeper to keep my connection alive?
Using Windows 10 64-bit, my Ethernet connection disconnects when my computer enters sleep mode. When I wake up the computer, it takes a minute or two to have the Ethernet icon stop having a red X. Sometimes nothing happens so I unplug the cable, then replug it. Alas, I can wake up my computer while ...

Re: Does Pop Peeper modify opened EML files?
The latest, v7.7.1.
I suggest you upgrade, especially since it's portable (you can even use the PortableApps version which always retains settings upon upgrading).

Re: Does Pop Peeper modify opened EML files?
It's Notepad++, yes.
I've just tried to reproduce it but couldn't. When I started this thread they were EML files downloaded from Chrome. Do you think it was still Chrome not letting them go? But it was minutes after being downloaded and seemed to happen when PP opened them.

Does Pop Peeper modify opened EML files?
I've edited multiple local EML files and then opened them in Pop Peeper. But my editor kept complaining some program tries to change my EML files. It always happened as soon as I opened the files in Pop Peeper. If that's so, why does Pop Peeper need to modify the files? I've checked for actual chang...

Re: OpenSSL
In that case, I've just started using it. I think it's the first time in over a decade I'm using PP's official SSL. But is this indeed the "future build" you promised all these months ago? For legal reasons, this distribution does not include certain Encryption Algorithms. * So I will be r...

Re: OpenSSL
So I will be removing these flags from future builds, and the SSL libraries that I distribute will be much closer to a default build Until then I don't see why not stating this officially. 1.0.2p has been available on esumsoft.com for some time: But your webpage displays "v1.0.2.11" which...

Re: SSL in Pop Peeper
They may be true, but support for v1.1.0 has already ended except security fixes ("1.1.1 is our new LTS release we are strongly advising all users to upgrade as soon as possible"). Speaking of which, support for v1.0.2 ends next month and it'll only get security fixes too. By the end of 20...

Re: OpenSSL
The issue is actually with certain algorithms that have patents. I cannot say with any authority that these algorithms are more or less secure than the others. It's possible that they're not any more secure, or it's possible that they're lower in the priority, or it's even possible that the server ...

Re: SSL in Pop Peeper
As a semi-relevant side-note: POP Peeper v5 will be using OpenSSL v1.1. v1.0 and v1.1 are not compatible (meaning PPv4 can't use SSLv1.1 and PPv5 can't use SSLv1.0). Actually, enough years have passed since v1.1 was launched that by now there are already two new versions past the stable stage - v1....

Re: Activation should occur before premium plugins are loaded
Yes, in my last post I've explained that the requirement is another polling session and not a restart. I've just edited the thread's subject to reflect that.
So in this new code, will it be identical to having AutoCheck off when the program starts, and then turning it on a second later?
