Hey guys,
I was wondering about what to do with the high RAM usage PopPeeper has. Process lasso shows about 430k "memory-private bytes" and only 15k "private workspace". I am using PP for about 10 mail inboxes and have been using it for quite a few years. I have tried to browse the forum for possible answers, but the only one I found - I think removing the database files (?) didn't work.
So... any help? You'd really help me out of a tight spot. Much appreciated.
High RAM usage
Re: High RAM usage
I assume you left out a few zero's
I'm also surprised you didn't find any better results, as it's not an uncommon question. Simply removing the database files wouldn't help as PP would just have to re-download the messages and memory is back where it was.
The memory usage issue is slated to be addressed in the next major version (v5.0), but in the meantime, the best solution is to remove as many messages as you can out of your inbox and into a folder that POP Peeper doesn't monitor. Large messages -- usually those with attachments -- should be specifically moved (you can use PP's sort order on the "size" column to find them easily); but thousands of small messages can use a lot of RAM, too.
If you have POP Peeper Pro, you can use PP to move the messages (more info), or you can use another client including webmail.

Re: High RAM usage
Thanks. This had worked, looking forward to 5.0!
