If you hover over the POP Peeper icon (with rolling eyes) does the icon remain in the system tray? (if the icon disappears at that point then POP Peeper has crashed, which is only usually the case if the rolling eyes are stationary)
Please provide us with some answers to a few questions that will help us determine what is causing your problem.
Is this issue occurring every time or just randomly occurring?
What Operating System are you using?
What version of POP Peeper do you have ("Help" > "About POP Peeper...")?
What type of email protocol (Hotmail/Outlook, IMAP, POP3) is the account set at ("Server type" setting)?
If this issue is occurring every time is it always on the same Hotmail account (assuming you have more than one)?
If this issue is persistent (not random but happens all the time) and it is always on the same account then please disable that account (Edit account and uncheck "Enabled") and do a Mail Check, does the Mail Check work okay with the one specific account disabled?
If the last two questions apply, then try doing a log-in to your account on the web (using Internet) and see if there is any issue doing so, if not do you see any messages in the inbox that look peculiar (different) in some way? If so try moving the message to a temporary folder (i.e. archive folder) and do a Mail Check on that account again to see if this makes a difference.

yes ofcourse I will provide more data should I experience another problem, but today PP is working as it should again, I didn't change anything from when it was not working

Thanks for reporting back, glad to hear POP Peeper is working again.
At the time POP Peeper was "stuck" on a Hotmail account and as a result you reported the issue at that time did POP Peeper eventually finish the Mail Check (or did you do something at that time)?

I exited and closed pop peeper each time, it was unreponsive to anything else

The most likely filters that might cause an issue like that are the
- URI blacklist
- DNS blacklist
Both of those perform network functions, so they're more variable than the other filters in terms of how long they take. They use your DNS server, so if there's a problem there, it may take a noticeable amount of time. They also contain self-checks so if something is tending to take too long, it will temporarily suspend it and re-instate it again later, but this gets reset each time PP is restarted.
POP Peeper does provide some performance statistics, so if you want to learn how to understand them (or where to find them) -- just ask!
