No more spam what happend?

Post by techmanc »

Hi all
First off I am still using my verizon.net account that was transferred to AOL to be able to keep my same email address that is attached to many places over the years.

My main problem with my account tho happened to hooked up to these spammer while I was using a site that I thought was signing up for food stamps as best I can recollect.

Sometime while I was answering the question I suspected the site was not legitimate and let the site.
Since then I get all kinds of spam many time 10-20 a day.

I knew this when I decided to keep using this email address as I am stubborn like that and annoyed that if I started using a new address that it to could get infected.

So now I am using my new AOL account and for the first week no spam and I was happy camper again.
After the week passed I got a lot of spam that was sent to my spam folder anyways not sure if AOL saw it as spam or I had filers for a lot of those addresses that was retained in my AOL account.

Now for the last week no spam at all and still checking every day but all spam is gone which is great but and the reason for this post is how was it fixed I not seen any news of spammers being taken down so what up? Thank!

Well that link just stating what I already stated about verizon.net going out of business a post made by me some time ago when it was all happening.

What has been happening with my new AOL acct is when I been getting my mail and I look at it from the AOL web page I saw that the that was why I now longer needed Pop Peeper to filter my spam as it was being caught there.
I
had been using what was had been the Verizon email site and did use there spam filters which once I assume it was Russian spammers so I will use that to define all the spam I received it felt like it was being generated by 2 servers imho.

So while Pop Peeper now was getting its own already filtered email I mean when I used used just that to view my email there was no spam at that end.

At that point I was still getting all the spam at my AOL server like I stated it earlier about a week after I went from 0 spam to 20+ spam a day.

Now a week ago knock on wood all my spam has ceased meaning the spam sender must have been taken out of the picture.

Does anyone who the spammer was as I have seen no news of that happening? Its kinda hard to put what happened in my post and I know I forgot to mention that I have been using AOL email web page and using PopPeeper as my email receivers.

Hope someone here heard what happened Thanks!

This has to be I was right it was Russian spammer one post details the same spam I was getting

It's hard to say exactly why spam increases or decreases. Personally, I don't get too optimistic when a botnet is taken down -- the same computers are still vulnerable to the next blackhat. But it might mean you get a fresh start on protecting your email address.

I don't generally pay attention to the spam I get, but I checked my trash folder and I'm still getting non-targeted spam (e.g. nigerian and medication), so I guess all I can say is: enjoy it while it lasts... :)

I think that in my case all the spam was being generated by the Russian servers that produced my spam to make big money for the spammer!
I dont think it was on some bot system that keeps looking for new servers to infect and so far no new spam so my theory seems correct.
I will defiantly post back here if the spam ever returns I had to deal with this spam for years so its kinda weird not having to deal with it whenever I got mail but I can get used to that :)
