Check Mail Error

Post by Gabe »

When I click on "Check Mail" I get the following error:

Login Error (authorization failed Check your server settings.)

When I check each account individually, I get no error (I have several accounts, all pop3)
I have tried everything that I can think of, but I still get the error as soon as a click on "Check Mail"

Welcome to the forum Gabe,

We will need a little more information regarding your issue.

Is this a new POP Peeper install and if not have you made any changes of any kind to POP Peeper (assuming PP was working before and this is a new problem that has arisen)?

Is this occurring for all accounts?

What type of accounts are they (Outlook.com/Hotmail, Yahoo, Gmail etc)?

Please post in this topic the Error Overview Information (which provides us with more information to help analyze the problem) for the error(s) you are getting (I presume they are all giving you the same error). Refer to the following link on how to post this information to this topic: PP Error Messages: How to view them & copy/paste into your post. IMPORTANT: Please note toward the bottom of the instructions provided in the above link that you be sure to please edit/obscure any personally-identifiable information that might otherwise be displayed, before submitting the information into this topic.

Also as you are a new member of the Forums, The Esumsoft Team requests you please review the following:
Information for new users and forum members, the information linked above in the first paragraph is included in this sticky topic along with a lot of other helpful information for new users.

Thanks

I just installed PP for the first time.

All accounts are POP3.

When I check the email for an individual account, I do not get an error. I only get an error when I click on "Check Mail" and it checks all accounts (or whenever it does an automatic check mail).

The following is the error overview information:

--- Version ---
OS: Windows 10 (x64)
POP Peeper: 4.4.2.0
Webmail: 4.4.6.0
SSL: 1.0.2.11
IMAP: 4.4.2.0
SendMail: 4.4.2.0

--- Error ---
Account [0: POP3] ['pop.secureserver.net' (995) SSL: 1] [Smtp: 'smtpout.secureserver.net' (465) SSL: 1] [Consec: 9]
- Login Error (authorization failed Check your server settings.)

Thank you for providing the error info.

Based on your Error Overview info the answer to my question as far as what "type of account" you are using is apparently "GoDaddy Mail" and from what I can tell the POP3 settings do appear to be okay for GoDaddy.

What I would suggest you do is to switch to the IMAP server protocol by setting your "Server type" in POP Peeper to "IMAP". The other settings should be changed automatically to the appropriate settings. (right-click on an account in the left account list pane in the POP Peeper main window and select "Edit account..." from context menu and then change the "Server type" setting to "IMAP" and click the "Update" button).

Do a "Mail Check" for all accounts (press "Check Mail" button or Click on "File" > "Check mail" from main menu or right-click on PP tray icon and select "Mail check") and see if making this change helps you out with that account, if so change all accounts to "IMAP".

Please report back with your results.

^ Follow-up: If your issue persists after doing the above then more information may be available to us as a result of determining whether POP Peeper is getting a valid connection by doing the following: From the POP Peeper main menu, select "File" > "Error overview..." and then press the "Web Test" button. The response you should get is "server response: 200" and a date-time-stamp.

I did everything that you suggested, but nothing worked. I finally decided to completely uninstall Pop Peeper 4.4.2.
I then installed an older version (3.0.1) to see if it would make a difference. I did not get an error with this version, however, it did not have SSL security, so I upgraded by reinstalling 4.4.2.
After the upgrade, Pop Peeper is now running without error.
