Would be possible to add Save button with the default location set?
That could also use the setting to choose the default saving location.
It takes 4 clicks + finding a location now, that would lower it to 3 clicks.
Saving attachments
Re: Saving attachments
I like the idea in principle, but what I don't like is that you're blindly saving it to a location. For people like me that save to a different location, it would be absolutely necessary to see where it's going to save it, so:
Should they be independent or share the same list?
The other dilemma is: the above layout is not good (wasn't meant to be). But if "open folder after save" is moved below the new "save to folder" controls:
- the available width of the folderwould be short because of the buttons on the right
- "open folder after save" may look like it only applies to the new "save" and not also the old "save as"
- The whole dialog may be too "busy" for something that is supposed to be a simple save attachment
So -- suggestions welcomed...
And this would be even more beneficial if it was a dropdown selection and had the "most recently used" list of folders that the "save all" window has.Should they be independent or share the same list?

Re: Saving attachments
Well there is always "Save as ..." for that. It already displays a warning instead of just saving a file. "Save" would be just like in browsers, where the default location is set, you do not have to change it everytime you download something, since you know, where it is going.
Lets not make it too complicated. 99% people save into documents anyway, besides they can easily pick recent folders or quick access folders from the left menu in Explorer, when using "Save As ...".
Re: Saving attachments
I think it's perspective. I don't save anything into the documents folder and so I would say that 99% of the people don't either

I would also say that my twist on the feature would be significantly more convenient to people like me than saving the other ("half", let's say) from clicking one more button. I have to click a whole lotta times to save the file where I want it, but with an MRU, that would be cut down significantly.
Well, it's easy to say that when it doesn't affect you. But you need a more compelling argument when the developer is in the other 1%Lets not make it too complicated.

Browsers have download managers so even if you don't know where the browser is saving it, you can still access it. That would not be the case with a simple "save" button in PP and is the situation I'd like to avoid.browsers, where the default location is set
Imagine the case where a person decided to save a certain file to a different folder; the next time they open the "save attachment" folder, they've forgotten about that, hit "save" and then wonder where the file went. As the developer, I'm the one that has to foresee these kinds of issues and prevent them from happening in the first place, because if I don't, I'm also the one that will have to spend time doing tech support when someone thinks that PP hasn't saved their attachment. And I *much* prefer doing development over tech support.
But let's see if anybody else has any input.
