Since I'm just now getting back and it's been a few days since your last report -- can you let us know if this is still a problem?

Hi Jeff,

Thanks for your email.

There is no problem at the moment.

It seems to fix itself up after many attempts at collecting emails.

Problem only starting occurring after I updated SSL module to version 1.1.1.23.

Never had a problem in the past.

But, at the moment there is no problem.

I can post again if it happens again.

The SSL update was likely just coincidence, but if you'd like to go back to the previous version you can download it here:
https://update.esumsoft.com/POPPeeper/d ... sl111u.zip

And you can find the installation instructions for manual download here:
https://www.esumsoft.com/pop-peeper/plugins/#SSL
(important thing to know is to exit POP Peeper before you copy in the 2 files)

Hi Jeff,

Thanks for your advice.

I will leave it as is for now and if the problem re-arises I will assess whether to elect to install the older version of Poppeeper.

Hello,

Just a note to mention that the problem was never resolved.

As I speak my Gmail account is not getting collected.

Surprised no one else has reported this problem.

Please post the Error information again (as you did previously at the top of page 2 in this topic). Be sure to redact any personal-identifiable info that may have been included in the Error Report.

To review and hopefully clarify where we stand at this point (based on what has transpired as previously discussed in this topic):
You originally had 3 computers that were having issues with Gmail that got narrowed down to one computer that continued to have an issue with one specific Gmail account that you reported had over 9000 messages in the one account. As of Dec 23, 2023 6:10 pm you reported to us that this last issue was also resolved (see post below - with significant points highlighted in red)
fbagnato wrote: Sat Dec 23, 2023 9:10 pm .... What I did was leave the computer on overnight so that Poppeeper would keep attempting to collect emails.

The 3rd computer is now working and collecting emails.

Looks like it is resolved....

Last night I stayed up late to work on some things and thought I would leave the 3rd computer on all night and see if it would trigger at least one successful collection, downloading the initial large volumes of emails in that account.

I just checked it then and it has collected all the inbox emails (i think around 9000) and hasn't had an error since....
You've since reported to Jeff (more than a week later) on page 2 of this topic (posted above) that as of Jan 02, 2024 at 6:54 pm as well as on Jan 03, 2024 at 6:28 pm everything was working successfully for all accounts.

In as much as you haven't reported anything different (up until now) - can you give us a better idea when this issue started again and does it only involve the one computer with the account that has over 9000 messages (or is the issue involving all Gmail accounts again)?

Also, please start a new topic as this original topic was for Hotmail, not Gmail.

- Error Getting RETR

I can only speak confidently about one computer as Poppeeper is checked on that one. The other computers have it installed but Poppeeper is not checked.

The problem never really went away, I thought it did once it collected my emails successfully but it has kept happening at random times.

On this computer I have 3 accounts, 1 Hotmail/Outlook and 2 Gmail. I have only noticed it happening on one of the Gmail accounts, which has 3264 emails.

Sometimes it works, sometimes it doesn't.

I am not too fussed but thought I had better chime in to let you know that there is still a problem.

SOLVED - One of my 2 Hotmail accounts not collecting emails

Post by fbagnato »

The cause of the problem has been identified.

It was ZoneAlarm Next Gen Free Firewall that was causing the problem.

To verify the cause I temporarily uninstalled ZoneAlarm Next Gen Free Firewall and installed the older release of ZoneAlarm Free Firewall.

Emails were then collected 100% of the time.

For my security I then reinstalled ZoneAlarm Next Gen Free Firewall and the problem resurfaced.

I will have to put up with it for now until ZoneAlarm fix the bug as it would be unwise to run an older version of the firewall.

Interesting. Glad you found the problem and thanks for letting us know. It's been a while since I last used ZoneAlarm, but perhaps you can create rules to make it work, e.g. whitelisting POP Peeper (poppeeper.exe). Or force-allow connections on port 993.

Hello Jeff,

Poppeeper is only one of the problems ZoneAlarm Next Gen Firewall is causing.
  • It is causing regular BSODs
  • Connecting to the computer using Teamviewer fails unless both computers are clean booted
  • Response on the computer slows down to an unusuable system.
It is not a matter of ZoneAlarm configuration (I've looked).

Same problems occur on all our household's 6 Windows computers with ZoneAlarm Next Gen Firewall installed.

Very poor update to the very stable ZoneAlarm Free Firewall versions.
