I'd like to request a feature in POP Peeper to provide an option to optionally assign a user selectable icon to each account that would be displayed in the messages Inbox in a new column as an alternative (or in addition) to the Account name and additionally (optionally) in the Accounts list pane as a column as an alternative (or in addition) to the Account name ie Account column.

I have received this suggestion before, so I'll consider this a +1. You can, of course, color-code accounts for this purpose, but you can actually perform the very suggestion you're asking for by using Rules and custom User Flags (the former requires a Pro license).
The Rule would look something like the attached image. You'd need to create a separate rule for each icon you want to use; if you wanted multiple accounts to use the same icon, those could be in a single rule.
