Exchange authentication failure

Post by Cynyster »

Hello
I have Pop peeper working to check one account through DavMail and it has been working flawlessly for years and still works well.
I only use Pop peeper to check and delete e-mails

recently I have been trying to add a second exchange account... to the very same server.. just a different mailbox.

Pop peeper & Davmail is saying I am using the wrong password. I know the password is correct because I can cut the password from Pop Peeper and paste it into the password field on the web interface and outlook.com accepts it.

I have taken screen shots and compared the settings and they are identical except for the mailboxes they are trying to access.

any ideas what might be the trouble?

Thank you for any assistance.

This may not, as of the present time, continue to be of any help (that is, specifically in your case) as the topic is for one thing quite dated.

That said, you may perhaps want to at least take a look at this topic: viewtopic.php?t=3819 (note: there is a more recent post by Jeff at the close of the topic. If this link is of no help to you, be rest-assured Jeff will likely join the conversation soon).

By the way, what is the email service you have in POP Peeper that you're using through DavMail and what version of POP Peeper do you have?

The new account may require you to use an app-password/Oauth2 where the original may not.

Hello . Thanks for the replies.

Below are screen grabs for what is working

and the 'new' which is not new... per se... it is just new to my pop peeper.
I have been asked to monitor this other mailbox on the same system as my e-mailbox.

I will look into the settings in OWA and make sure it can be accessed by 3rd party applications.

Thank you again for looking at this.

Right, that could be another reason, too:
