4.0.1 not a go for me trying to reload 3.8

4.0.1 does not seem to be working well enough for me to constinue using it.
I reinstalled 3.8 but after logging in, all my messages that were read but saved are gone.
any help>?

Please provide more information.... Also, please see this:

The data files from v4 are not compatible with v3. v4 made a backup of your v3 folder; rename v4 and then rename v3 back to what it was. The backup folder will be in the same place it was, but with "-v3" appended to the foldername.
