Hi
Is it possible to move the position of the notifier to a place of my choice.
Notifier Position
Re: Notifier Position
Welcome to the forums, Aceuk007.
If you're referring to the Skin Notifier, then yes:
- Go to the skin settings (PP main menu: Tools / Skin notifier -> select skin/settings
- You can either change the corner that it appears in, or change the mode="disable slider" and then you can click&drag it where you want (use the "test" button to move it immediately)

Re: Notifier Position
Thank you for the quick reply.
Re: Notifier Position
Click&drag does not work for me. Am I missing something here?
Re: Notifier Position
Did you set mode="disable slider" ?
One other possibility: re-press the "test" button and then you should be able to move it. (ie. the notifier that's currently displayed when you change the setting won't be affected)

Re: Notifier Position
Thank you Jeff, but it did not work for me. In the end, there must be some place where the new position is stored (one of the ini-files or registry), so position can be changed by editing the relevant entry?
Btw I could only see the notifier on screen after setting PpTweaker Misc 2 to 'Allow all notification'. Fortunately I found this trick somewhere here in the forums. Strange, because I am using no Full-Screen Apps to detect.

Re: Notifier Position
Are you trying to move it after using "Test" in the Skin settings or when the notifier is live?
Please post a screenshot of your Skin settings and maybe there's something I can verify.
Where does your skin notifier appear? (e.g. a specific corner, or a specific place on your screen)
And, just to clarify -- what exactly is the problem when you say "click & drag does not work"? Does that mean that dragging it doesn't move it, or that you can move it but then it's back to where it was (ie. not saved)?
There is a plain ini file that you can edit (Tools / Options / Storage; double-click Ini Location), but I suspect that this wouldn't work.

Re: Notifier Position
Hi Jeff, it is not possible at all to move the skin notifier by mouse, whatever I do, whatever settings I select. It is possible to move it to the four corners using the corresponding override slider settings, that's all. These corner positions are stored in poppeeper.ini as UD_SliderPos = 0 to 3. There is no visible field related to free screen positions either in poppeeper.ini nor the well documented example.ini of the example skin. If it really works to move the notifier to any position, then that position has to be stored somewhere, I suspect somewhere in the registry.
Re: Notifier Position
2) Just below that set Mode = Disable Slider (this is what allows you to move the skin)
3) Press the "Test" button
4) Move the skin by clicking and dragging it
The window position is in the ini file, but it keeps a separate setting for each skin, so it's not practical to modify it directly. If you don't see it then that just means it hasn't had a need to save it. But like I said, that's not going to help because I believe you haven't set the correct settings to be able to move it, so even if you directly changed the window position, your current settings would prevent them from being used (ie. slider/fade doesn't use a specified window coordinate).
Re: Notifier Position
Thank you Jeff, how stupid of me to overlook that combination with "Disable Slider"!
Now it all looks like my old desktop (the tool for showing the number of new messages at that position stopped working because of SSL/TLS issues).
One small problem remains: The background image (gif) is a small rectangle set to be completely transparent. On screen it remains black when moving something over it. I do not want that transparency feature where the whole thing is fading more or less but a bright white number above a complete transparent invisible rectangle. Is that possible?
Thank you again, best greetings!

Re: Notifier Position
Glad you got it working.
But I'm afraid I do not understand your new question. I'm not sure what transparency feature you're referring to when the mode = slider disabled. I assume you've created a custom skin, so is it potentially an issue with using a completely transparent background? If your desktop background is black, could you use a black gif for the skin (and not transparent)?
